Every thinking person who has considered the question, and every single Judge, has found that allowing one loving couple to marry does not harm any other couple.
For the leader of the immensely wealthy corporation that is the Catholic “Church” to say otherwise, is just a lie. He clings to prejudice against gay people for one reason — The condemnation that previous popes inflicted upon generations of people, allowed the “Church” to accumulate massive wealth by selling forgiveness. If the church were to admit that it was just profiteering, it would lose all credibility. To continue profiteering, he must continue the lies and prejudices of the past. He knows they are lies, but he cannot say so.
There is a place in modern life for religion. There is even a place in gay life for religion, and a place in religious life for gays. But that religion needs to be concerned with relationships, understanding, acceptance, truth, and love. And, it must let go of prejudice and condemnation.

If he thinks it’s difficult for straight couples to maintain their marriages while gay couples are also enjoying marriages… it should follow that religious people are generally being held hostage by the idiocy of the Katholic Khurch… and they kind of are, but too many are simply on-board w/ the prejudice.
