It’s “sin” inside the Church, says Benedict, aboard a plane from Portugal. “Today we see in a truly terrifying way that the greatest persecution of the Church does not come from outside enemies, but is born of sin within the Church.” Somebody call Tom Hanks, maybe he can find out where in the Vatican it’s hiding. Maybe The Sin is hanging out with the bed bugs; those things are impossible to kill.

It is not “persecution” when priests are committing felonies and the bishops are covering them up. It is properly called “justice”.
They need to realize that the Church is made of men, and men are not perfect. Some men commit crimes, and some of those crimes are against children. When that happens, the Church as an organization must not cover up the crime. If the Church covers up the crime, the Church becomes a conspirator in that crime.

The rapes of tens of thousands of young girls and boys has its origins in the arrogance and immorality of religion, superstition and ignorance. Religion is humankind’s greatest tragedy.
The christer cults, particularly the roman cult have a well deserved reputation for their bloodthirsty past and equally criminal present. The christers used the Inquisition to confiscate the assets of Jews. GLBT folks and muslims, they burned ‘witches’ (midwives) and slaughtered at will during the great pirate raids called the Crusades.
Now the catholic cult encourages the spread of HIV/AIDS by supporting abstinence and claiming that condoms and meds are poisoned.
Protestant cultists, including Obama’s close ally Rick Warren are behind the proposed anti-LGBT law in Uganda that would legally kill our brothers and sisters there.
The islamist cults conduct pogroms and campaigns of mass murder of GLBT folks in Iran, US occupied Iraq and in much of Africa.
It’s time to tax the cults, secularize their schools, hospitals and universities (without compensation) and close their seminaries. It’s time to create laws and regulations that forbid priests, imams, preachers, rabbis, mullahs or pastors to be near children without the presence of armed guards to protect the children.
It’s time to ask the Hague to order the arrest Herr Ratzinger, der Papenfuehrer and his college of cardinals, as well as most bishops and archbishops as accomplices and accessories to rape and child molestation.
It’s time to confiscate all the wealth of the roman cult and all the cults to compensate their victims and pay for anti-superstition classes in schools and colleges.
It’s time for a little justice.

Steve, it’s not “justice” to cover up a crime you have information to, it’s called collusion.

Religion isn’t humankind’s greatest tragedy. Just two of them. Christianity is one of them. I’ll let you guess the other.
The only things of value in the VatiKKKan were put there by gay people. Hopefully that can be removed before the bombings begin.
Death to the Vatican. Death to the Pope. Death to Christianity, Islam and all gentile faiths. Death to heterosexuality, which is an unnatural condition perpetrated by goyische baby-farmers and nation-building scum to suppress the glory, beauty, and moral righteousness of same-sex love, which the greatest civilizations of the West, ancient Greece and Rome, recognized, accepted, and celebrated.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_sex_abuse_cases#Statistics_on_offenders_and_victims it seems that in the U.S. “There were approximately 10,667 reported minor victims of clergy sexual abuse during this period:
“* Around 81 percent of these victims were male.
“* 22.6% were age 10 or younger, 51% were between the ages of 11 and 14, and 27% were between the ages to 15 to 17 years.”
As to the priests who committed these crimes, nearly 70% of them were ordained before 1970. Some years ago I saw an article by a gay psychotherapist who had treated a number of priests. It seems that in the past, people entered a seminary at a much younger age than today, and these ended up going through their formative years in a sexually suppressed environment, causing them to turn out rather weird. That probably contributes to the 70% figure.
One person who was formerly a priest or had some other professional associating with this church and who had commented on QUEERTY claimed that parishioners knew better than to trust their daughters with a bunch of sex-starved guys but didn’t realize there was any risk to their sons. As a result, the priests had more opportunities to abuse boys rather than girls, so the relatively high fraction of boys who were abused is due at least in part to the relatively easy access the priests had to boys compared to girls.

@B: Thanks for expanding on what I said, but young girls are also victims clerical abuse and rape, especially in priest infested European countries like Ireland. The ratio differs from country to country and is unimportant. In spite of the anti-gay lies of the catholic hierarchy, the largest number of clerical rapists are not sexually oriented towards just towards boys. They’re opportunist rapists.
The undisputed facts are that it’s widespread and that Der Papenfuehrer and his predecessors, and very large numbers of prelates are accessories and accomplices. They’ve refused to turn in rapists, transferred them around to commit even more rapes and provide sanctuary for priests who rape and those who abet them, like John Law of Boston.
