Poppicock!

While we’re talking about California’s social conservatives, check out this incredibly erroneous assertion: “Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage Will Increase Prevalence of Homosexuality.” [Earned Media]

I went to Tracy Hansen’s website.

First – there is a lot of dissection of studies showing that urban males have more gay sex than rural and assertions that an absent father plays a part etc. But even if true, there is nothing connection LEGALIZATION of same sex marriages to MORE homosexuals.

Second – Another article says studies show if one twin is Gay, only 10% of the other twins are Gay, ruling out genetics – if it was genetics, then it should be 100%. Anyone got any ideas on that?

Third – I looked at another article titled “Pro Gay researchers conceal data”. The article says that children of Gay parents are more likely to engage in gay sex (I’m saying here childhood experimentation). I’ve never found that to be concealed by anyone – and wrote “DR” Hansen the same. What she is alleging was “concealed” was that researchers reported no difference in orientation.

THAT IS EXACTLY RIGHT. While children of Gay parents experiment more,(which is what you would expect due to less stigma) they still turn out Gay and Straight at the same percentages. NO SECRET you dumb B**ch! That is why I put “DR” in quotes.

(obviously in my second two paragraphs above I was trying to show she is either ignorant or lying)

I didn’t even want to get myself upset and read all the articles – probably more lies!

The supporters of religious extremist Sarah Palin are the same people who support Prop. 8.

Is ignorance truly bliss?

Next they will be saying that gay people had sex with dinosaurs and that’s why they went extinct–4,000 years ago.

THere was a commercial on TV this morning about how Gay Marriage will lead to churches losing their tax exempt status. Basically the PRO prop 8 people are trying to vilify gays as RUINING the church if prop 8 passes.
The fear and hate propoganda from the religious right is just ridiculous. I was very sad to see this commercial get airtime in Los Angeles. My own city is allowing persecuation of gays.

I wrote to Trayce Hansen and told her that if children with Gay parents experiment more but grow up with the same percentages (remember on her website article said ‘pro Gay researches concealed facts – saying there were no differences but didn’t say what those differences were) what was being “concealed?” – I know of no reputable Gay organization or researchers that “conceal” data. But the religious right twists the results all the time. In light of that, and her own website I said she was either lying or ignorant, I admit it: here’s her response:

Hi Jaroslaw: I would recommend that you take a look at the Stacey and Biblarz review (2001). They are admittedly pro-homosexual researchers from USC and they make the same assertions that I did… but with more detail. And there are many others as well. Thanks for taking the time to comment but it would be nice if you refrained from the name calling… it doesn’t help your cause. Regards, Trayce Hansen, Ph.D.

I replied with more examples of twisted research, but I doubt if I’ll hear from her again. (Jeffrey Satinover wrote a book called Homosexuality and the Politics of truth about 1998 – he quotes a book called “couples” from 1980 with even older data – to “prove” that Gay males can’t form stable relationships. Well, I got the actual book and the preface itself says that it was a small numerical AND geographic sample. If misintepreting data so dishonestly isn’t lying, what is????)
