Presumptions.

Tyra Banks, queen of the universe, traveled to Spanish Harlem on her show yesterday, found a struggling homo and, in a stroke of flamboyant idiocy, decided to induct him into ball culture. Because voguing cures all. Or, that's what Banks thinks. Good god, she's ridiculous. [Jezebel]

Yeah nothing says "overcoming isolation and poverty" like learning how to be ghetto fabulous.

That's fierce. When does this episode re-run so I can watch it?

Tyra did a show on gay teens in Spanish Harlem. Who else does this? She treated the House with respect, not Chelsea-boy disdain (would you have been more comfortable with that, perhaps?). We should be thanking Tyra, not attacking her.

I don't see any thing idiotic or ridiculous in trying to help a young gay kid find a place for support and belonging.

Its easy to criticize, but is anyone on here doing anything better to help someone like this kid?

This is unfortunate. This woman is believing the hype about her. We know that the media makes news out of nothing. The first annual fiercee awards as she said is equally as prestigious as the Academy Awards and the Emmys. I hope that she is cancelled soon. Her show is like a slumber party for 5th graders. Who cares what Tyra thinks. And the nominees for the leader of the free world goes on her show. What were they thinking????? She is making a fool of herself.

Such a pretty face for such a stupid woman. “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” Abraham Lincoln

The lady doth protest too much!!!

She should just stand and pose. That's all.

Tyra is taking over the world! I wish somebody would verbally beat her ass down because she's clearly delusional. Tear her wig off (if you can).

The boy had an interest in this lifestyle (posing, being "fierce," etc.) and Tyra gave him a place where he could express himself.

I think it was sensitive and proactive.

What is stupid about introducing him to a "House"?They go beyond just voguing and balls. They provide alternative families for youths just like the one on Trya's show. Many who have been kicked out of their own homes, ostracized by peers and society, and even abandoned by blood relatives find comfort in the brotherhood and sisterhood of Houses. It's easy to criticize and scoff at things when unaware of the historic importance of such a culture.

Wow. Tyra does something good and people just jump all over her. She can't do right in the eyes of some people.

Also, Ball Culture is REALLY positive and uplifting. They raise money for organizations, take in homeless gay kids, take in kids that aren't homeless and just need positive role models. I don't understand why y'all are TRIPPIN' so hard!
