I came across this article when I was reading something else that mentioned Prince making homophobic comments. Now, before anyone gets upset I’m a straight female but fully support gay marriage (and basically people doing what makes them happy). I’m also a big Prince fan but that doesn’t make me believe in everything he says/does/believes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and though I’m not a JW fan lol it’s what he believes. I don’t think Prince was ever closeted, repressed, or even fabricated as some have said. I think he’s a man, an artists and most likely (based on his lyrics and image(s) has been with both men and women. I have several close friends who are gay that secretly feel ashamed (usually for some religious reason). I’m definitely not saying it’s right, but it is what it is. It’s not necessarily wrong either. I highly doubt that he hates or is fearful of homosexuals. He’s just stating his personal beliefs. We’re all different, that’s the beauty (and sometimes the ugly) of diversity. And he most certainly still is relevant!…but that’s a whole other topic.

Prince WAS better than Jacko, he was an artist who could play multiple instruments while Jacko was just a producer’s puppet. I never once saw Michael Jackson play an instrument. Although i do agree that the molestation accusations against the late man were false.

I am a huge Prince fan because i love his music and his sheer talent as a performer and songwriter, i honestly dont care about his beliefs, it is irrelevent to what he does.

Prince only ever had one good song to me (when doves cry). So how the hell can you people say he is better than Michael Jackson. Michael is a thousand times better and he’s not homophobic. When asked if he was gay he said no but said he and his family support their gay fans. Also Michael Jackson never molested children and whoever beleives that are just as bad as the christians who belive everything they read.

It is interesting in that Prince seems to have read his bible. Romans the first chapter (close to the end), makes it clear from a new testament teaching standpoint, the bibles views of “men who sleep with men”. If that doesn’t appeal to you, then 1 Corinthians 6 makes it clear that before becoming christians, there were some homosexuals, but they changed when they became christians.

Read it and understand, or don’t your choice. Just understand the bible does hold up a standard. Don’t claim to be christian, if you are practicing non-christian sexual behavior.

As they say, you can’t have your cake and eat it. If Christianity is too hard, check out Islam. They cut things off you can’t control.

Back in the early 80′s I thought it was kind of sad that the only out gay artists were nell-belles from hell like Prince and Michael Jackson. Jacko publicly denounced homosexuality back then, all Liberace-style, and I was relieved and offended at the same time. Now Prince is a big ole homophobe. Well, whaddaya know? Never found either of them attractive, nor do I care what they have to say about anything (although I do believe that Jacko should be somewhere where he can’t molest children anymore), but their music was fun to dance to.

I am a child of the 80′s and I loved his music, but I never really found him attractive, actually I always thought he was kinda nasty to look at. But he is, or at least was, talented. He always was extreme and he just shows how extremes bounce back and forth.
Somewhere in the middle probably lies Prince, the homo, but he has used sex to deflect from that and is now using religion. But the saddest part is that he is probably trying to deflect it from himself and has finally lost is mind.

Mostly because he isn’t. And I’m a hardcore Prince fan. He stopped making music sometime in the early nineties and just started recycling.

As far as the Jehovah’s Witness thing, I blame Michael Jackson. Although Price was a better musician, he could never bite Michael’s media profile, even when Jackson was clearly in decline, so Prince has been trying to co-opt the bananas lifestyle for the last seven or eight years. He still doesn’t realize that it isn’t working.

This comment only confirms my belief that Prince was always conservative and his “freaky” image (Dirty Mind, Controversy, underwear on stage, makeup, etc) was a calculated trick to distinguish himself from other black acts of the era. [And I'm black so please don't accuse me of race baiting.]

The thing is, he was always too much of a screamer for some of us to ever really care about. I mean, if gay meant being as gay as him, we started questioning our instincts.
