Yes this is what ive been talking about on here. The way to get the republicans to stop being anti-gay is to vote in their primaries. The reason the anti-gay forces have so much power is because they vote in the primaries not just in the general elction.

I was happy to be a part of the team that met with Senator Saland, to tell him our stories as LGBT constituents, and to ask for his support when ‘the vote’ came down. He told us in those early days last year that he was for absolute equality – and if that meant voting to extend the rights and responsibilities of marriage to same-sex couples, then he would vote to do that. He told us that he had to “do his own homework on the issue.” We did not realize at the time that he would actually become the lead negotiator between the state assembly and the governor, to get the job done.

I’m not registered with either political party – so I could not vote in yesterday’s primary. But, were I a Republican, I surely would have voted to return Senator Saland to the State Senate.
