“Hate crimes in Los Angeles County soared last year to their highest mark in five years even as overall crime dropped across the region, according to a report released Thursday.
The annual report by the county’s human relations commission shows 763 hate crimes were reported in 2007, a 28 percent increase from 2006… The commission said 111 hate crimes based on sexual orientation were reported, a 9 percent increase from 2006; more than 90 percent were against gay men.” [AP]

As gay and lesbian rights are more clearly recognized, as same-sex marriage is normalized, and as gay men and lesbians are more confident and comfortable in public, this is bound to happen: the remaining neanderthals respond to the flaunting of their prejudices and the evolution of a society away from them in the only way they know: violence.

To those who oppose hate crimes legislation as constituting double jeopardy or “special treatment” or “thought crime”: too damn bad. These hateful, vicious guys are selecting their victims to make a political and social statement. they should be put away and seriously tormented for a good long while.

Gay Hate Crime happening all over, due to the mania of religious groups pushing their doctrine. It’s out of control and getting worse. Our enemies point to NAMBLA thinking we are all after their children.

Well, what’s our verdict? Is violence against us increasing, or are prosecutors more willing to recognize that violence as a hate crime?
