Openly gay former Congressman Jim Kolbe has rescinded his support for fellow Republican Tim Bee's congressional campaign. While Kolbe cited "personal reasons," others speculate that Bee's support for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage may have been the final straw. Kolbe is an odd duck in Republican politics; he is an honorable man. Unable to repudiate, unable to effect change, he simply excuses himself. I have lots of older friends that act this way. If he were 20 years younger, he would have held a press conference, announced he was registering Democratic and give them the big FU.
