Pushing…

“An estimated 15,000 backers of [California's Proposition 8], most of them members of Mormon, Catholic and evangelical Christian churches, knocked on doors and distributed campaign literature to registered voters throughout the state this weekend and last, according to Jennifer Kerns, spokeswoman for the Yes on 8 campaign.” [AP]

Sorry to be a broken record, but I just can’t help it. I wish these folks would show the love of Jesus/God by working as tirelessly for health insurance, job security, fighting companies that move headquarters offshore to avoid taxes etc. as they do on hating Gay folks.

Here in socal, there were Mormon teenagers at my door bright and early Saturday morning last week…it was too early for me to open my door to solicitors. Turns out they wanted me to have a flyer on Prop. 8, so they kindly left it for me to read after I’d had my coffee. (The pamphlet talks about “San Francisco-based judges” approving gay marriage…Well, California’s SUPREME COURT is San Francisco based, so they’ve got us there.)

First, there’s something scary about a religion that can get teenagers going door to door first thing on Saturday morning without a financial incentive. Second, the struggle for liberty and justice for all is clearly not over.
