Gay athletes should compete and make our point by wearing a rainbow flag somewhere on their gear. A boycott only makes sense if we stop buying products from the sponsors (McDonalds, VISA, Coca Cola). But first we should all write a letter to these companies asking them what efforts they are making to change the mind of russian politicians. If that effort is real then I say dont boycot that company.
I’ve already written my letter to VISA (no reply yet of course).

@Warner27: I totally agree with your points. Both athletes and spectators (gay and straight) should visibly display rainbow colors all through the Olympics and gay and lesbian athletes should also wear something that states they are gay and lesbian. If the Russians try to arrest any they will have the fury and outrage of the entire sporting world on their heads as well as many others – and they will NEVER host an Olympic venue again!
