Super superstar Queen Latifah had an eye-opening interview in last month’s Glamour. While shooting the shit, Latifah said she’s not sure gay marriage should be called marriage. “People think of marriage bas something that is between a man and a woman, because it was created by God.” The renaissance woman also said the persistent gay rumors haven’t fucked her game.
The issue came up again in this month’s Ebony. Latifah may claim to be confident in her sexuality, but her responses say otherwise.
In an effort to clarify her Glamour responses, Dallas Voice‘s Daniel Kusner lobbed some questions at Latifah.
They didn’t stick…
From Dallas Voice:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
DK: Did you know that when states prohibit gays to marry, it can threaten same-sex coupes being protected by domestic violence laws?
QL: I didn’t know that.
DK: How do you feel about the statements you made in Glamour magazine?
Publicist: Daniel, do you mind if we just, uh, umm, skip to the next person And we’ll come back to this?
DKlove for her to just crank this one out.
QL: If you want, we can sit down and talk about this when I get there.
DK: You can’t do it now?
QL: I just think it needs its own attention.
Publicist: I would just like everyone else to have time for their questions. So Im sorry, were going to need to move to [the next journalist].
DK: So, you’re passing on me, Queen Latifah?
QL: I’m not passing on the whole topic, but I will say this: I do support anyone who wants to be married, and I support gays and lesbians having the same rights as anyone else. So no, I don’t agree that gays and lesbians should not be protected against domestic violence, and to even try to goad me into, um, condoning something like that I think is kind of a shallow move on your behalf.
Kusner tried three more times to get a straight answer, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, the Ebony piece also delves in Latifah’s bedroom, but Latifah ain’t biting. When asked if she’s dating her female trainer, the usually warm celebrity goes cold:
No comment on that at all. I’m done commenting on all that…It’s ridiculous, I know me and that’s all I need to know.
And if the readers don’t know me, then that;s one part they aren’t going to get to know. Those are my people but they don’t sleep with me
“No comment”? You know what that means: total queen.

I wonder if her publicist works part time as her stylist. That blonde wig was a misstep.
As far as her comments go, i’d say her non answers really said it all.

Dearest Advocate and others…
Please take note that this is how you conduct an interview. Don’t let those perfume ads, swag, and being star struck get in the way of asking tough questions.
Remember these bitches need us just as much as we need them.
Am I going to buy a ticket to her show?
I am so fucking over closet cases..they make me wanna puke vagina.

“I am so fucking over closet cases..they make me wanna puke vagina.”

Queenie, for reasons that escape me, you think nobody knows about your sexual orientation. As is always the case when somebody thinks nobody knows, everybody knows. Some will care, some won’t. That’s show biz.

Who doesn’t know that “my life is private” means “gay?” It’s as blatant as yesterday’s “Johnny is special” and “I’m a friend of Dorothy.” We all know the fucking code. I don’t know what DK’s problem is that he can’t accept this. His questions almost come across as primly moralistic as anything put out by the right: it’s “you must follow my moral code & there’s no room for discussion”. I’d of tasered him.

In my opinion, the wig looks really nice on her. I’m so blonde on this issue of Queen Latifah being a lesbian. I assumed it was just her demeanor. I pray to God there’s no truth in this subject matter. We shouldn’t make assumptions about people, what if were wrong? I really don’t want her to be gay. That’s nasty….

I can’t picture Queen Latifah being gay, but I can’t picture her tolerating any of the self-absorbed pretty boys in Hollywood. She would need a strong, self-confident man who’s successful in his own right and not at all interested in fame for himself or that she is famous!

Queen LaTifa is probably not saying because of her “Christian Upbringing”. She knows that there is no such thing as a “Gay Christian”. The word “Christian” means “Christ Follower”. Even the most heathenistic person knows that “Jesus Christ” certainly wasn’t “GAY”! What an oxy-moron!
