French lesbian tennis player Amélie Mauresmo finally shook off her nerves to win her first proper Grand Slam title on Saturday (she won her first earlier this year when her opponent wimped out and forfeited the final match).
After her victory, Mauresmo put on a cute ""2006 Wimbledon Champion. I am what I am." t-shirt that was actually a Hypercolor (remember those?) t-shirt with a secret message: "Boo-yah straight girls; my arms are bigger than yours," except it was in French.
We like Mauresmo not only for her sexy androgynous looks and her domination of the tennis court, but also because you can tell she's had it rough. Prissy fellow tennis player Martina Hingis called her "half a man" in 1999, and you know it wasn't the first time she heard that in her life. The only thing that would make us happier than Mauresmo's Wimbledon title would have been to see her grab Hingis by her tight little Slovakian buns and make her face all red with Australian clay.

Or should we say in the "active" position? Everyone's favorite lesbian tennis player from France has regained her number one singles ranking in womens tennis after winning the Australian Open. Amélie Mauresmo previously reached the number one spot in 2004 and held it for five weeks.
Out of the fifteen women ever to reach the number one spot since the rankings system began in 1975, at least three of them are lesbians. We believe that is above the national average. Check out our list after the jump.

Lesbians aren’t exactly new to women’s tennis (Hi, Martina!) but it’s still nice to see another one take the torch and carry it on. Lesbian Amelie Mauresmo of France beat Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne in the Australian Open Women’s Final.
"It's been such a long time, and yet I still don't know what to say," Mauresmo said. "All the people that still believed in me, after seven years - it's a long time."Not only myself, but people who're working with me, believed me and pushed me, even when I was down. Maybe we found the way, maybe we'll try to keep going."
With so many lesbians dominating the world of tennis, you gotta’ wonder why they’re so damn good at tearing up the turf? Maybe it has to do with all those years in high school they spent swatting those other balls away.
