Yesterday the stakes rose even higher in the present gay debate rumbling through the Anglican Church when Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams discovered a major flaw in the Biblical passage being proclaimed by conservatives all this while as part-and-parcel proof that homosexuality has no place in the faith was, well, totally wrong and being taken way out of context...
The passage, taken from Paul's Letter to the Romans, states: "Men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."
We'll admit—it had us fooled! According to Williams, however, such a reading is totally off the mark. "Paul is making a primary point not about homosexuality but about the delusions of the supposedly law-abiding," he said.
How's that for irony?
Homophobes Mis-Read the Bible, Say Bishops [GCN]
Your report from Arch Druid Rowan Williams is incorrect.
Take heart though, you were right all along. The reading/scripture is clear and it is about homosexuality being inimical to living a consegrated life for Christ.
It merely builds upon the traditional Jewish position against Homosexuality that was prevelant at the time.

Mike: WTF? Is that irony or serious?
Not so, the "indecent acts" can also be translated as "contrary to nature" with the nature reference being the in-born self, and not puppies and bunnies. So, the only way to make men committing acts contrary to [their] nature is to say that homosexuality does not exist that way, and it's a choice. So far, no one has proved that, which makes all the ex-gays the ones that Paul is condemning.
