Coulter Cacophony: Coulter Defends Self (Sort Of)
Adverts Dry Up

coulterAH.jpg
The Ann Coulter scandal continues to dominate headlines this gorgeous Tuesday morning. In case you've been living under a rock and/or lack any and all memory, the conservative pundit found herself in hot water after referring to presidential hopeful John Edwards as a "faggot". Now, as outraged homos, liberals and conservatives calls for her head, Coulter made an appearance on Fox News' Hannity and Colmes, insisting she didn't mean to offend anyone. No, rather, Coulter says she used a "schoolyard word" for "wouse, nerd". She also aligns herself against the Republican candidates who spoke out against her.

We've included the video after the jump. We've never seen Coulter squirm so much. She's obviously feeling the heat. And with good reason: a number of advertisers have dropped off her website: Verizon, Sallie Mae and Netbank. While certainly we love the fact these companies are yanking their support, we're intrigued by Verizon's rationale:

Per our policy, the networked Web site ad purchases are supposed to be stripped of certain kinds of Web sites. This one could be considered an extreme political Web site, should be off the list, and now it is off the list.
Alright, we suppose you could argue Coulter ventures into the frontiers of extremism, but she's been over the top since the beginning of time. They're obviously pulling the ad because of her faggot flinging. So, why can't they say that? Your guess is as good as ours.

Companies to pull ads from Coulter's Web site

It took a couple days for the media to pick up on this, but maybe now Coulter will pay.

NYTimes had an article about this. Seems most ad buys on Web sites are done blindly, without any choice. So you can be, say, a sports-relted product and end up on a site devoted to hating sports.

But beware, Queerty: This kind of thing cuts both ways. You could lose some of YOUR adverts!

I'm tired of hets trying to pass of the word faggot as meaning weak, rather than being an anti-gay slur. And I'm really tired of the media buying this lie. No one bought the lie from the KKK when they claimed nigger wasn't racist, it just meant lazy and uneducated and can apply to any race. Yet everyone accepts this dismissal of the f-word. Bullshit.
