Hundreds of Sacramento-area students rallied to support four students suspended for wearing anti-gay shirts. One participant said: "It's only going to get worse against Christians. We're going to get persecuted more and more. But those who stand to the end: God is going to save them." Um, right...

Sony's banking on Spider Man 3. Literally. Some insiders claim the flick cost $300 million to produce. No doubt, however, it'll make it back. And then some.

The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission will honor Nepal's Blue Diamond Society for all their hard activist work. Unfortunately, they will not be honored with actual blue diamonds.

We've never quite understood Kate Moss and Pete Doherty's relationship. Now we do. And they're kind of cute. Still total nutters, but cute...

The fuzz may have been investigating theft at Atlanta's airport, but they found a bunch of horny gay men, instead. Now they're looking for more.

Regional lawyers have ruled that Latvia's City Council acted unjustly in barring last year's gay pride parade. Hoorah!

Maryland's House has passed a bill requiring health insurance companies to extend benefits to same-sex partners and children. The bill now needs to be signed by the governor to become a law. (We totally just had a School House Rock flashback.)

GLAAD's celebrating the tenth anniversary of Ellen Degeneres' coming out with a month full of flag-waving faggotry.

Sri Lanka may forbid homosexuality, but that's not stopping gay activists from planning a pride event. Trouble is, they don't have any money. Do you?

In an effort to make a more single friendly album, Madonna has joined forces with Justin Timberlake and uber-producer Timbaland. If they can't help her sales, no one can...

The House Judiciary Committee isn't fucking around with Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. They've just issued a subpoena for more documents regarding the allegedly illegal firing of federal prosecutors. Nail him to the wall, kids!

New York has agreed to extend benefits to employee's same-sex partners. About fucking time, no?

Mario Vasquez still claims he's not gay. But, of course, the interview took place before that whole sexual harassment lawsuit, so who knows...

Don Imus may have called them "nappy-headed hos", but the Rutgers Women's basketball team has agreed to have a little sit-down. We hope they give it to him good.

Robbie Williams may have ditched Take That! to embrace his bad boy image, but some are saying the recently rehabbed singer's mulling a musical reunion. Um, is that supposed to be a career booster or a death rattle?

21-year old Akino George has been sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in the beating of gay singer, Kevin Aviance. Like his violent cohorts, George copped a plea. Smart fucker...

Until We Meet Again (Monday)

• Do you love us? Do you want us to win the 2007 Bloggie for best LGBT blog? Well, you should head over and vote for us. Seriously, dude, we want your vote. We want it more than we want anything in the entire world. Nay, universe.

• British rapper Q-Boy has signed on to present Channel 4's Coming Out To Class, a special "Gay Week" film about homophobia in schools. Other Gay Week specials include My Big Gay Prom and Mum's Gone Gay.

• Britain's Home Secretary and devout Catholic John Reid spoke out against anti-gay adoption Catholics, saying, "If you bring in a law which says all people will be treated equally, then all people will be treated equally." That's the smartest thing we've heard all week.

&bull, We're not sure which is worse: the fact that Michael Jackson's new album will be produced by Will.I.Am from The Black-Eyed Peas of news that it'll be released via internet.

We're so grossed out, we just have to let the headline do the talking: "Over a third of gay men with anal infections reported no unprotected anal sex". Use condoms, fools!

• What does Wanda Sykes have to say about Isaiah Washington? Lots of funny shit.

Take It All. Yeah!!

• You should nominate your favorite blogs for the 2007 Web Bloggies. And when we say favorite blogs, we mean us.

The Christian Post reports that Christian book publishers have been yanking Ted Haggard's books with more fierceness than he yanked Mike Jones' prick. They're also worried his writing career's dead. Um, right - he may no longer write on happy marriages, but we're sure there's a book in his future. Call it a hunch.

• Speaking of Mike Jones - he just won Joe.My.God's Queer of The Year contest. In his acceptance speech, Jones says, "To all who voted in the Queer of the Year, I would like to thank you even if you did not vote for me. Every one on the list deserved to win." We love a gracious hooker winner.

• Logo's announced a new lesbianic weekly internet talk show, according to Good As You. It's called "What She Said". How clever...must be those buckets of Viacom bucks.

Pink News UK reports that Police and Security Minister Tony McNulty and some chums are considering making racist, homophobic and other derogatory incitements illegal. Can you imagine never being able to call someone a cracker faggot? We shudder at the thought.

• So, Justin Timberlake's apparently done with Cameron Diaz, according to Star Magazine. Interesting, because we kind of forgot about them. Okay, okay, we forgot about her.

Lane Hudson does not approve of Dennis "Hasturd" Hastert's official response to that whole Mark Foley/Page scandal. How do we know? Well, he said so on his blog: News For The Left.

Bloggies

You rarely hear from me, David Hauslaib, the publisher of Queerty. But I figured this would be the right time to chime in and congratulate our writing team of Bradford Shellhammer, Steve Pep, and Scott Rose — if only so they don't have bend down and administer auto-fellatio. Congratulations for what?

For winning the Best GLBT Weblog in the 2006 Weblog Awards, that's what! It was just announced today in Austin at South By Southwest. We couldn't be more pleasantly surprised, especially in the face of such worthy competition as Towleroad, Good As You, Joe My God, and Little Yellow Different.

It's been a truly rewarding experience right from the start (which wasn't so long ago: September 2005) to see readers immediately "get" Queerty and continue coming back everyday for our mix of queer pop culture, fashion, travel, entertainment, news and politics, and, of course, our skin pics. While the Bloggie goes to Bradford, Steve, and Scott, it's you, our readers, who deserve the recognition.

As we move forward with a new writing team in place, we can only hope we'll make next year's list of nominees. And that you'll accept our invitation to be our gaybor.

And if you happen to be at SXSW, say hello to Queerty's newest editorial addition, blogosphere veteran Dan Renzi, who is very excited to have joined the Queerty team. Because in the words of Reese Witherspoon, we're all "just trying to matter."

We’re really honored to be one of the nominees for Best GLBT Weblog over at The Bloggies. The other nominees, Joe My God, Towleroad, Good As You, and Little Yellow Different are all frequent reads of ours. Our editor has performed alongside Joe, made brunch for Ernie, and put a few back with Andy. We don’t know that little fellow over at Good As You, but we’re sure we’d love him too.

So vote for us or for them. It’s just nice being acknowledged for the work we’ve been doing and we promise to keep up the news, the attitude, and the nonsense.
