Getting To The Bottom of The Dror Barak Leak

romanragwindows.jpg
The story broke on the morning of Friday, May 5, 2007, but word didn’t begin to spread until later in the afternoon: Dror Barak, an Israeli consulate staffer, quit after being outed as a gay porn star known as Roman Ragazzi.

The Page Six report explained that an anonymous client had agreed to fly the eager Barak abroad for some “modeling work”. The daily tabloid column also quote’s an email from Barak to the aforementioned source, saying, “I just started doing porn movies. None of my movies is [sic] out yet. I know you mention 'escort.' I never did escort, and I don't do it.”

While some readers may have wondered whether or not the strapping Barak does, or did, escort, others questioned who leaked his name to Page Six. And, more importantly, why?

And We Met Some Really Bad Girls!

jaredpolis3.jpg
• Colorado-based entrepreneur (founder of ProFlower and ecard company, BlueMountain] and and philanthropist Jared Polis has thrown his name into the running for the state's representative seat. Polis, whose eponymous foundation donates millions to educational purposes, released a statement:

Here in Colorado, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of a strong community that values diversity and respects our differences, but our health care and educational systems rarely match our American promise; I will provide leadership to change that. "We must end the war in Iraq so we can focus on combating poverty and discrimination and growing a more inclusive and sustainable economy here at home.
If elected, Polis will become Colorado's first openly gay representative. Quite a change for the state that once boasted the highest concentration of Evangelicals.

• Fourteen Canadian prison guards have asked to be transferred after Correctional officials refused to separate an . The girls give new meaning to "bad ass bitches from hell":

After a verbal spat shortly after their wedding, one of the women - and another inmate - smashed up a washer, dryer, microwave oven, fridge and stereo in her cell block... Shortly afterwards, the inmate screamed racial slurs at a guard and slammed a door shut in the face of another.
Pretty rude. Also, this news source: Canada's Canoe, listed this news story under "weird news".

• Seventeen South African churches have applied for licenses to officiate gay marriages.

Rosie O'Donnell will not rest until Elisabeth Hasselbeck stops watching Fox News.

• Will someone please tell us what the hell happened to Jessica Simpson? Also, why we care about what the hell happened to Jessica Simpson?

• On a somewhat related note - why does Angelina Jolie think it's okay to play a black woman?

Triple Murder Suspect Diagnosed With Schizophrenia

glenraceH.jpg
Suspected murderer Glen D. Race has a history with the law. The man accused of killing two openly gay Canadians and an American also found himself in custody on April 14, 2005, when police say he broke into a house "with the intent to commit an indictable offense," Truro Daily News reports.

At the time, a judge ruled that Race should undergo an psychological examination. The results were anything but exemplary:

[Race] was remanded to the East Coast Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Dartmouth for an assessment to determine his fitness to stand trial and whether he could be considered criminally responsible for the alleged offences. The assessment said he had a serious psychiatric disorder, schizophrenia. He was deemed psychotic, but none of this affected his rationale with regard to specific actions.
Race agreed not to contact the home owner and went on his potentially murderous way.

Charged For NY Murder, Canadians Seek Answers

brewmurderH.jpg
Canadian Glen D. Race remains in custody after being picked up near the Mexican border for the murder of a New York man, Darcy Manor. Police found Manor's bullet-ridden body five-days ago in Mooers, NY. Canadian police claim that 26-year old killed openly gay Trevor Brewster last Wednesday, May 9, and then stole his car, which he used to cross into America. They go on to claim that Race then killed Manor, stole his car and hightailed it toward Mexico.

Considering the similarities between Brewster's murder and that of another gay man, Michael Knott, Canadian officials believe Race also killed Knott. Newsday elaborates:

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Wednesday the same man from Halifax has been charged with two earlier murders in Nova Scotia, as well as robbery counts.
...
RCMP officials said Race has been charged in Canada with the murders of Trevor Brewster, 45, and Paul Michael Knott, 44.
Another report, however, makes no mention of charges. One thing's for sure: the Royal Canadian Mounted Police want justice. And they want it like whoa...

She's No Hell's Angel

smalldunceH2.jpg
Constable Christa Pennie may have been raising the home of a Hell's Angel, but that doesn't mean she couldn't have a bit of fun. The Canadian officer got her rocks off with antics, such as putting dental floss in a gargoyle figurine's mouth and downloading a desktop image reading, "I love gay porn". How clever.

Pennie told a disciplinary board that she intended to erase the desktop but "forgot". Hopefully she'll remember to cough up the 20 hours of overtime she's been fined.

Speaking with the press, Pennie said she regrets her trickster ways: "My actions did cause me to lose a lot of sleep over the weekend as I was very upset with myself". We're sure...

Two Murders Raise Serial Killer Flag

cruisingH.jpg
Halifax police released an official warning to gay men after two men were murdered in so many weeks. Police removed Trevor Charles Brewster’s body last week, while Michael Paul Knott turned up dead on May 5, in Mill Cove, N.S. Police have found sufficient similarities between the two murders to launch a joint investigation and issue the aforementioned admonition:

Both victims were gay men who were known to frequent cruising areas in Halifax Regional Municipality. We do not know if their sexual orientation or the cruising areas played a factor in their deaths. These circumstances, though, cannot be ruled out as contributing factors. Therefore we are issuing a public advisory for potential safety concerns in cruising areas.
But, by all means, keep cruising. Just be sure not to pick up that psycho killer.

Second Killing In So Many Weeks

brewmurderH.jpg
Trevor Charles Brewster went to Burnside Trails for a stroll. Unfortunately, he found murder instead. A can collector discovered the 45-year old gay man's partially-clothed, bloody body Wednesday:

Colin Brown, the man who found the body, said the victim was dressed only in jeans and had a garbage bag over his head and what looked like a knife wound in his abdomen.

He said the body appeared to have been purposely hidden, probably recently.

Burnside Trails has earned a reputation for gay cruising, a sexually-charged detail that leads some to speculate that that Brewster - a quiet, well-regarded waiter - had gone to the park to find a bit of free loving. Certainly a distressing hypothesis and even more so considering the recent murder of another gay man, Michael Paul Knott.

No Diplomatic Immunity For Married 'Mos

bullsmell.jpg
India's Ministry of External Affairs has found itself in a diplomatic quagmire after finding out two high-ranking Canadian diplomats live with their legal spouses. The unnamed politicos - a man and a woman - both married their partners while still living in Canada. Unfortunately, the Indian government still abides by the colonial era law, Section 377, which forbids homosexuality.

Upon hearing of the queer couples, the Ministry of External Affairs told the Canadian government it cannot honor their marriages, nor will they allow diplomatic immunity...

Election Loss, Party Tension Cited

boisclairH.jpg
Openly gay Andre Boisclair has stepped down as Parti Quebecois leader. A few of the reasons being cited for Boisclair's sudden departure include the party's nine seat loss in the recent general election and Boisclair's feuds with his political peers. The 41-year old sovereignist headed the party ofr less than two years.

In his resignation speech, Boisclair took responsibility his party's recent slide, but reassured voters that he loved his brief experience as party leader:

I consider that I gave the best of myself in this position but the current conditions don't allow me to do this anymore. I just turned 41. I am still young and I still have a lot of things to accomplish in my life.
He also encouraged fellow Québécois to keep fighting the good fight:
I'm deeply convinced that this francophone people in North America will one day retake its rights and, between quiet resignation and its freedom, this brave nation will choose freedom.
Well, considering the party's low numbers earlier this year, it doesn't seem too many people are interested in a sovereign Quebec. But it's the thought that counts, right?

Autopsy Reveals Gruesome Murder

walkerH.jpg
Canadian police have finally found the body of 72-year old British national, Harley Walker. Walker went missing last October and concerned neighbors called the police to investigate. Coppers may not have found Walker, but they found a considerable amount of blood in his house, as well as evidence that a man named David Kenton Reid may have been responsible.

Like so many men, Walker turned to the internet to get his kicks. Police allege that 46-year old Reid - a married father and former investment banker - used a gay sex site to lure old men into his web of deceit. If they're to be believed, Walker contacted Reid about three months before his death. Reid somehow got access to the elderly man's bank account, took all he could and then murdered Walker.

An autopsy of Walker's badly decomposed body shows that he died of a stab wound to the chest. Hardly the penetration he expected when he logged onto that website. But, sadly, one we're hearing off all too often. If only people could relate face-to-face. What a wonderful - and potentially less scary - world this would be...

Official Statement May Officially Change By June

crackedcrossH2%20.jpg
Gay Canadian Anglicans may be praying for some divine intervention over the next seven weeks. The Anglican Church of Canada has released a statement rejecting the possibility of blessing gay unions. For now, at least:

Where we are today - not in June, but as of today - our doctrine and discipline does not allow the blessing of same-sex unions. So we're acknowledging that's where we are, understanding that that could change in June.
No doubt the issue will come up at next month's general synod meeting in Winnipeg.

Canadian Anglicans may not approve of gay nuptials, but that doesn't mean they're not praying for your sissy soul. Winnipeg Free Press reports:

[Their official statement adds] that it is "a Gospel imperative to pray with the whole people of God, no matter their circumstance."

For example, the statement suggests a parish, with its bishop's knowledge and permission, could pray with a civilly married gay or lesbian couple that wants recognition of their union and celebrate a eucharist with the couple.

They also say they hope that "no child is denied baptism solely on the basis of the sexual orientation, or the marital status, of the parents."

"It is inconsistent and unacceptable to deny baptism to children as a way of imposing discipline on the sexual behaviour of the parents," says the statement.

At least one Canadian Anglican doesn't think that's good enough. Reverend Shawn Sanford Beck stepped down yesterday after clashing with church officials over the controversial matter. Beck wanted to bless same-sex unions, but faced pious religion.
