Why Are We Not Surprised?

imfergie%21.jpg
Sounds like Fergie had some experience playing a lesbian in Quentin Tarantino's forthcoming flick, Grind House. She tells New Zealand lad-mag Stuff that she's gotten down with the ladies:

I have had lesbian experiences in the past. But I started having sex quite late on - after I was 18. I was raised a good Catholic girl.

I won't say how many men I have slept with, although it's not many, but I am a very sexual person.

The singer's sapphic excursions came in the midst of her meth-fueled drug days, when she would fling herself about with reckless abandon. Though she may have had a gun put to her head during a botched drug deal, the former child star insists, "I never sold my body - ever." Good to know.

Speaking of knowing - we're sure Dolly Parton will be glad to know this bit of lesbianic gossip. Someone be a peach and pass it along.

Longing For Lesbianic Lovin'?

dollystraight.jpg
Some more fuel for the Dolly Does Dudettes fire. The queer-friendly country singer, currently on tour in Europe, told reporters that she once had a crush on a Tennessee street walker: "I thought she was beautiful. She had more hair, more color, more everything." More practice?

As if that's not enough, Parton also "joked" about her mind straying during sex:

When I have sex with my husband these days, I fantasize I am with someone like Keith Urban or a petite, hot young woman.
Sorry, Dolly, but we don't think you're Urban's type. Although, yes, he does sort of look like a lesbian.

Dolly Parton fans doll

We adore Dolly Parton, but admit that we don't have any hand-crafted lookalike dolls on display in our houses. Does this mean we are not true fans? Perhaps, as the new documentary For the Love of Dolly could reveal. It focuses on five devoted fans of our favorite country diva, showing how Dolly transformed their lives for the better:

Under the cleverly crafted direction of Tai Uhlmann, (herself a proclaimed life long Dolly fan), For The Love Of Dolly will not only take you inside Dollywood but also into the hearts and homes of her most devoted fans to reveal why Dolly’s rags to riches story has touched so many lives from Tennessee to Zimbabwe.

The documentary opens in New York, L.A., P-Town, and San Francisco next month.

9 to 5 Cover

Tomorrow is a DVD double-header, with both Brokeback Mountain and 9 to 5 being released for our homosexual viewing pleasure. Gender equality in the workplace has made some progress since the Jane Fonda/Lily Tomlin/Dolly Parton classic came out in 1980, but its release on DVD gives the stars an opportunity to weigh in on sexism and their own personal relationships, including how they all (except for Tomlin) enjoy being whistled at on the street by construction workers. We're right there with you, girls.

Also in the works is a Broadway musical version of 9 to 5 starring Dolly Parton, who will also be writing some brand new songs for the production. It is due to open in Fall 2007, and we will of course keep you posted as news develops.

20051027_straighttalk.jpg

Ex-gay Stephen Bennett will be putting a long hard mic up to his lips every day for a radio talk show on our favorite topic: our homosexual selves.

The currently hetero Bennett and his wife Irene (who was "never involved in homosexuality" and who he himself describes as "prissy and elegant." hmmm) will take to the Christian airwaves preaching about that ghastly homosexual agenda. Their radio show will be heard in the mid-west (beginning appropriately enough on Halloween) and available to stream over the Internet. The rousing back-story on the loving couple:

Stephen Bennett is a former homosexual who abandoned his 11-year promiscuous homosexual lifestyle, along with a long term homosexual relationship, after becoming a Christian in 1992...Fully knowing Stephen's past, Irene accepted Stephen's proposal for marriage in 1993 without any reservations.

Ahh, young ex-gay Christian love. But we like the way Mr. And Mrs. Bennett tell it:

She's the woman that stole his heart. He's the former homosexual man. Now married and on a mission...they're out to set the record straight.

Throw in Megan Mullally and a Chelsea coffee shop setting and you've got yourself one wacky WB sit-com.

We have an inkling Irene and Liza Minelli might be getting together over cosmos one day to commiserate over their husbands once Bennett, you know, falls off the wagon.

Oh and the show's title? Straight Talk, of course! He's named it after a Dolly Parton song! This ex-gay may have still have some queer in him after all.

Dolly Parton has said, "It's a good thing I was born a woman, or I'd have been a drag queen." But with a rack like that, there's no mistaking her for anything but a woman.

20050929_dolly_parton.jpg

Sure she's always primarily been a country singer, but she's succesfully crossed over into the mainstream. We can forgive her for the country music because not only does she not suck but she has the personality of a drag queen to boot. She releases a new album in October, this one comprised exclusively of cover songs. Classics included are lesbo faves Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee" and Joan Jett's "Crimson and Clover."

Parton's been a strong champion of the gay community, contributing to this year's Love Rocks CD benefiting those homos at the Human Rights Campaign. And when asked whether she supports same-sex marriage, she jokingly responded, "Hell yes. You people should have to suffer just like the rest of us!"
