The army's back in the sissie spotlight and it's not looking pretty. About two weeks after General Peter Pace famously referred to homosexuality as "immoral", an army recruiter's in hot water after her less than wholesome replies to New Jersey resident Corey Andrew's queer inquiries.
It all started when Andrew posted his resume on the internet to find a job as a copy writer. For some reason, an army recruiter contacted Andrew to see if he wanted to enlist. Despite knowing the army's stance on the gays, Andrew asked the recruiter whether could contribute as a gay man. The recruiter, Sgt. Marcia Ramode, said his homosexuality would disqualify him - and, for extra emphasis, she used all capitals. This lady obviously meant business. In a later email, Ramode sounds more like Tim Hardaway than a national "hero".
The Jersey Journal reports:
You must be a total idiot and so stupid to presume that you do not know what gender you are." Ramode added that Andrew should be more grateful to the military for defending his freedoms, but that as a gay man "he should leave the United States. Not one to rise above, Andrew then took some low blows against Ramode's American Indian heritage, making fun of her grammatical deficit and telling her "...take that to your next rain dance". Not surprisingly, the black Andrew courted some racism of his own. Ramode replied, again in all capitals:
GO BACK TO AFRICA AND DO YOUR GAY VOODOO LIMBO TANGO AND WANGO DANCE AND JUMP AROUND AND PRANCE AND RUN ALL OVER THE PLACE HALF NAKED THERE.Army officials insist that all representatives must act "professionally" and that they're investigating the matter.
If you ask us, both Andrew and Ramode should be ashamed of themselves. Don't people get it? Racism, homophobia (and, in fact, all forms of bigotry) are so 20th century.
