Beyonce and Eva All About Lesbianica Erotica
To Star in Tipping the Velvet Movie

tipping.jpg
We've never read Tipping The Velvet by Sarah Waters, but we were just discussing it last night, which makes the discovery of this story all the more surprising.

Apparently Beyonce Knowles and Eva Longoria have signed on to play repressed lesbian lovers in Sofia Coppola's big-screen adaptation of the novel. Those of you familiar with the text (or the BBC version) know that things get pretty sexy, including a scene in which one of the characters gets fucked with a strap-on. Of course, as pioneering career women, Longoria and Knowles are jumping at the opportunity.

Beyoncé and Eva are said to be incredibly excited about the steamy love scenes and can't wait for filming on the project to start.

A source revealed: "They weren't at all coy about the sex scenes. In fact they both seemed to think it would be more fun than doing the same work with a man. It's going to be very hot."

So, what's bizarre about this story? Well, while we haven't read it, our lesbian friend tells us there are no people of color in the book. We suppose Coppola's using her artistic license on this one, which - despite what you may think after Marie Antoinette - is actually a good thing.

(Oh, and in case you don't know: "tipping the velvet" is code for cunnilingus.)

well, considering it takes place in the...late 1800/early 1900s, i think, in england where these two women make their living dressing as men and playing vaudeville houses it is an odd choice.

it was made into a TERRIBLE movie by BBC america a few years ago.

it's a good book, well worth reading. water's follow-up, affinity, is even better.

so sayeth this gay man.

Didn't Beyonce go on record a few years ago as a religious anti-dyke?

Oh yeah, great! How to complete wreak a good novel. FFS! I do wish they'd just leave some things alone. I actually quite liked the BBC adaptation. At least that had cute girls in it. What ARE they thinking casting these two fugs? Hello - they are supposed to be Victorian LESBIANS! Not L Word wannabees....

I agree that the choices made are a bit risky, but how fun is it to really ''play by the book''? I think this is a bold move by Coppolla. Oh, & for creepy lesbo who said these girls were fugs...are u kidding me these are 2 of the hottest girls in the bussiness right now. they both exude sexuality, which why they can pull this great novel off. maybe we need to be thankful to not seeing the same actresses over & over again. We should thank coppolla & the girls for uhem...stepping out of the ''hollywood box''.
