Because it is smut. Decent Americans shouldn't have to watch this crap get promoted. I will give Mr. Mitchell credit. He obviously knows sex sells. No wonder people hate us so much. If we would just fall in line and not push the envelope we could maybe start gaining a little respect in the world other than being called sodomites or queens.

Don't blame the hate from some straight folk on Mitchell and Shortbus. Some folk hate us for a number of reasons and all of them have nothing to do with a film that no one will be forced to see.

i've seen it. and it is SO not smut. are you honestly kidding me? it explores sex and sexuality - i think it's an important step in a direction that has thus far been tip toed around. The sex in this film isn't about achieving "the money shot" - or getting the viewer off - it's about an aspect of most people's lives that i rarely featured in films in a honest way. It is also about exporing sexual issues that typically aren't talked about - unable to orgasm/feeling uncomfortable getting fucked/and many other sexual issues that within the "shortbus" world are not looked down on - but are worked to be understood and worked to be over come (in some of the cases) - or even just personally worked to be accepted so as to continue having a sexual life.

oh. and i would LOVE to hear what you definition of "Decent Americans" is. ugh. honestly.
