Rupert Everett Revealed
He May Be Spermless, but He's Still Fine

reverett.jpg

There's no doubt that we love Rupert Everett. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that we're thrilled to itty-bits about his new autobiography, Red Carpets and Other Banana Skins. We haven't had a chance to read it, but we were enthralled by this article from The Telegraph in which we glean some interesting bits from the book.

For example, did you know Everett worked briefly as a rent boy (sorry we missed it), had an affair with the late Paula Yates, and has no sperm? Yep, no sperm. Why? Because he takes medicine to stop his hair from falling out. He says, "If I stop taking the pills, all my hair will fall out, but I would rather have hair than sperm." A bit distressing, but we still want him like mad.

Even more distressing is his lamentation over his love life:

Unfortunately, I am single, yes, but I'm too exhausted for anything else and being gay is a young man's game.

Now no one wants me. Being gay and being a woman has one big thing in common, which is that we both become invisible after the age of 42. Who wants a gay 50- year-old? No one, let me tell you. I could set myself on fire in a gay bar, and people would just light their cigarettes from me. I don't want to be carried out of a club wearing a tie-dye T-shirt and a cap on the wrong way around when I am 70, but I would like to settle down a bit. Maybe with a partner. In some ways I do feel more settled, but now I want to take part in things.

Um...Mr. Everett, if you're reading this, drop us a line. We'll treat you right.

Mr. Everett misses the make totally it isn’t true that no one wants a gay 50 year old. In fact it’s that nobody want’s a gay 50 year old Rupert Everett. Especially since he thinks he has the body of a twenty-year-old gymnast and the diva quotient of Joan Collins on mescaline. RE was so demanding he hastened John Schlesinger’s exit from directing films and did his best to make everyone on the crew “The Next Best Thing” miserable by being a total bitch and acting like a 3 year old.

I am so completely tired of the "who wants a gay man over 50?" bit. I just turned 55. I'm bald. I'm short. I'm average looking. I have no problem getting hit on/picked up/looked at/whatever.

Do 25 year olds drool over me? Of course not. Do they even see me? Rarely. But guess what? At 55, I'm not that interested in 25 year olds. I mean, sure they're pretty and fun to look at. But I'm at a very different point in life.

As long as you're grown up enough to be attracted to people your own age, you can have plenty of fun and plenty of company.

So, sorry Mr. Everett, if I don't shed a tear for you.

I love Rupert as an actor and almost always enjoy the films he's in. However, the excerpts from the book that I have read would seem to reveal a narcissistic individual who values himself based on the company he keeps and devoid of the "stuff" necessary for a meaningful relationship. I assume that is part of what makes him a great actor and sells "tell all" books.

Rupert, let me assure you that there are indeed MANY gay men who want you, 50+ or not!

I personally like older guys.... stable, employed, better lovers, etc. It is true that our community values youth, but we can't all be circuit boys forever!

This (25-year-old) Nick says kudos to you, Nick! It's such a relief to see people who don't buy into the gay club culture of youth worship. I don't discriminate on basis of age--I'd much rather date a guy in his fifties who allowed himself to be naturally beautiful than someone my age who plucked himself silly and snorted coke to maintain an adolescent physique. Aging is inevitable, kids. Might as well not overdramatize it.

Cry me a river. Sorry Rupert is having such a hard time being rich, famous, and genetically gifted. He leads a charmed life, and needs to get over himself. I liked this guy before I started to read quotes from his book. Now I just think he's a douchebag that needs to go away.

Rupert's stint as a rentboy is not news. I recall him talking openly about it in an interview he did in the early 90's. I know it was a cover story for either a gay mag or a film/indie film mag. Although I like some of his films, shame on him for sending one of Hollywood's greatest directors to an early grave.

I'm sure many young pretty boys are not interested in men in their 50s and a man in his 50s has to be pretty foolish to want them to be interested.

I saw Rupert Everett at an awards earlier this year. He is amazingly gorgeous. Comments like these, however, tend to diminish this attractiveness.

Well.....I think that all of you hit the nail right on the head. The only reason he is having trouble finding guys is because he is looking for 25 year-olds and not 45 year-olds. Frankly, I am 29 and I would not want an 18 year-old, so I can't imagine what the attraction is in Rupert's mind.

Also, that photo you posted of him is in the past. Currently, he has had extensive plastic surgery done, à la George Michael. He doesn't look as good anymore. Had he left his face alone, he would have stayed handsome (just older.)

Who could or would want someone with such apparent low self esteem? Get ahold of yourself, girl...
