Hundreds of Sacramento-area students rallied to support four students suspended for wearing anti-gay shirts. One participant said: "It's only going to get worse against Christians. We're going to get persecuted more and more. But those who stand to the end: God is going to save them." Um, right...

Mission: Incarceration

deverytaylor.jpg
Air Force Captain Devery L. Taylor has been found guilty of raping four men and attempting to rape two others. Apparently the nine-person jury didn't buy his account, namely: he had consensual sex with five of the men and the sixth raped him. For her part, Taylor's lawyer said Taylor's only crime was being gay and breaking Don't Ask, Don't Tell. The men, however, say he's guilty of much more than that - they said Taylor drugged them and tried to take advantage of them.

Now that he's been found guilty of such a vile violation, Taylor can look forward to some quiet time behind bars. While certainly we're happy whenever a rapist gets what he or she deserves, we're a little sad about this story - we imagine that Taylor probably wouldn't have gone to such desperate measures if the military allowed gays to openly serve. But, it doesn't and Taylor raped four men and now he's going to jail. Maybe this will help reverse Don't Ask, Don't Tell or, of course, it could just reinforce negative stereotypes about gays in the military. Only time will tell...

As for Taylor's punishment - he faces a maximum of life behind bars. Sentencing begins today...

gay army
The Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that public college/university campuses must allow the US military to recruit on campus, even if the school objects to the military's exclusionary policies against gays.

Certain liberally-minded schools had attempted to block military recruiters, in the hopes of sending a message to the US government that discrimination isn't kosher. But the Supreme Court nipped that little movement in the bud, citing a law from 1996 that cuts federal funding from schools if they don't cooperate with the military.
We find the military's witch-hunt against the gays to be a bit troubling. We have long considered joining the military, since uniformed soldiers always get picked for Contestant's Row on The Price Is Right. And we would clean up if Bob Barker would just give us a chance.
