GLAAD Takes Manhattan
Manhattan Shrugs, Rolls Over...

glaadhillary.jpg GLAAD - the "inclusive" gay media watchdog group - held their 18th annual media awards last night at New York City's Marriott Marquis. We weren't there, but GLAAD president Neil Guiliano sure as hell was. He's in almost every shot.

As for the actual winners, Patti LaBelle won for Excellence in Media Award, while Tom Ford took home the Vito Russo Award. Marc Jacobs' "bear" ad campaign won the advertising honor and, for some reason, GLAAD granted the "straight" men's magazine, Details, the Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage. Because, you know, their "Gay or X" column really helps the cause.

Find some pictures after the jump for your - um - enjoyment...

Apparently Jai Rodriguez had better things to do than chill with his Queer Eye alum. Getting a new career, perhaps?

glaadamc.jpg
All My ChildrenS Jeffrey Carlson - who plays tranny Zarf - and Eden Riegel - who plays lesbo Bianca - showed up. Good thing, too, because the soap took home the Outstanding Daily Drama award for their honest queer portrayals. That's something we can certainly support.

glaadcynthiakate.jpg
Cynthia Nixon and Kate Clinton with good ol' what's his name.

glaadkatewarner.jpg
Holy shit! It's Sarah Wynter! We haven't seen her since she played the perpetually confused Kate Warner on 24. Someone give her a job, please!

glaadwhoopi.jpg
Is Whoopi really straight?

glaadpatikatetom.jpg
This may be the most perplexing picture of the whole lot. Where's the camera?

glaadrosie.jpg
Rosie and Kelly popped on in and won for their HBO documentary, All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise. Um, and here! wants to be a part of this?

glaadtomjulianne.jpg
Julianne Moore and Tom Ford look ready to feast on homo-human flesh. Which, really, would be fine by us.

glaadkeithnathan.jpg
Keith Boykin and Nathan Hale Williams are so cute we could eat them! But then we'd be cannibals and there ain't no shakin' that reputation.

glaadwiener.jpg
Heather Matarazzo and John Waters make a Guiliano sandwich. Too bad we're on a diet. And, again, aren't cannibals...

I have to say I agree with Manhattan. Does GLAAD really think they speak for even most Gays and Lesbians? If so where was my ballot?

Put them on the same boat with HRC and drill a hole in the bottom just before they leave port.

GLADD does represent all gays and lesbians. Of a particular income bracket, lifestyle, and stereotype. Cut 'em some slack.

Jai Rodriguez lives in LA now, it's a bit far to fly just to attend an award ceremony when you're not even nominated for anything.

Jai Rodriguez was on Queer Eye?... Oh yeah, I kind of remember an annoying buzzing sound in the background...

Gee, it's so wonderful to see Cumstains Kressley again. We thought er hoped he'd died. And in a seemingly endless, year-after-year list of execrable decisions by GLAAD, another was giving the "Vito Russo Award" to Tom Ford. Russo was a brilliant, passionate activist who helped found GLAAD, wrote "The Celuloid Closet," was vital to many NY GAA accomplishments as well as those of ACT UP almost up until the final moment AIDS swept him away. To Ford, gay activism only means fucking.

Die GLAAD die! And take Cumstains with you.

TPC says:

why would Marc Jacobs even do a campaign like that? None of his clothes would even fit a "bear".
