The notion that scandal-ridden actor Isaiah Washington would make a pro-gay PSA for GLAAD borders on the absurd. The entire set-up's like a bad plotline from an equally bad prime time soap: actor fucks up, goes to "rehab", makes PSA telling people not to fuck up. It's ridiculous! We've all read the words, but now you can see the - um - real deal above.
Meanwhile, TMZ also has an uber-bizarro video of Bobby Trendy and an American Idol reject (aka one of Trendy's horrible homo spawn) fagging it up. Warning: this video is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, perfect for anyone looking to call someone a faggot. Isaiah Washington take note.
Ch-ch-check it out, after the jump...

Grey's Anatomy's Isaiah Washington will be doing double duty tonight. Not only does the faggot-flinging actor's popular medical drama end its season, but Washington will also be appearing in his well-publicized GLAAD-sponsored public service announcements. The 30-second commercials are as much the actor's attempt to make up for inadvertently outing costar TR Knight, as a go at public penance.
No word on whether the public will buy it, but GLAAD has released the text from Washington's socially-conscious slot:
Words have power. The power to express love, happiness and joy. They also have the power to heal. When you use words that demean a person because of their sexual orientation, race or gender, you send a message of hate. A very powerful message. But we all have the power to demand better from one another and from ourselves. We have the power to heal and change the world by the words we use.Of the PSA's, GLAAD president Neil Giuliano says,
When Isaiah Washington lends his voice to that message — when he acknowledges the personal responsibility that he and each of us have to create a culture that rejects prejudice — it advances the kind of dialogue that’s absolutely essential to changing hearts and minds. But is Washington really taking personal responsibility or is he just delivering a publicist-endorsed message? Although, with rumors flying that Washington won't be returning to Grey's, he better take all the screen time he can get!

• NewsBusters, the watch dog group dedicated to "exposing and combating liberal media bias", are taking aim at GLAAD the group released a statement in which president Neil Giuliano "urges" the media to commemorate Falwell as a homo-hating monster:
As they look back on the life of the Rev. Falwell, media have an opportunity and a responsibility to reflect on the outdated, hurtful attitudes and beliefs he embodied...Newsbusters go on to accuse CNN of buying into the Falwell bashing:It's an important opportunity to take stock of how far our nation has come in moving toward a more respectful and inclusive society, and how far we still have to go.
On Anderson Cooper 360, CNN correspondent Randi Kaye, who raised eyebrows in December for a story worrying about Saddam suffering when he hanged, shared no comparable horror at the death of Falwell. Her transcript read like a commercial for GLAAD... Anchor Anderson Cooper titled his segments "Faith and Fury," and fury was certainly in heavy rotation on CNN.If only Evangelical revisionists were in charge of the media...
• America's Next Top Model's (Ms.) J Alexander warns touchy-feely fans to back off: "I knocked a lot of people in the nose and knocked a lot of people in the head and knocked a lot of people in the chest for grabbing up on Miss Jay."

• St. Petersburg Pride banned! The city's just too dang busy, you see?
• Wanna see some cute boys? Sure ya do! Especially when they're fine ass D&G models posing in their undies...

The American Family Association has a long history of inciting riots against "pro-gay" companies. They've got their on-and-off hate affair with Wal-Mart. And of course there's their "victorious" campaign against Ford's dalliance with GLAAD.
But how do the "traditional" family focused rabble rousers know which brands to brand enemies of their fundamentalist state? They subject themselves to hours and hours of gay-endorsed television, of course. The group's project summary:
Between February 11 through May 5, American Family Association monitored the top eight prime-time network programs featuring lead or supporting homosexual characters. These programs were specifically identified by the activist-homosexual group GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) as GLAAD Media Award winners, or as showcasing leading or supporting homosexual characters.Of the eight shows - The Simpsons, ER, The Office, The Class, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy - four air on the Disney-owned ABC. That means the AFA's going to have to add the media giant to its list of offenders, which already includes Ford, Verizon and Quaker Oats. The AFA's got quite a battle ahead.
If they're really serious about taking down fag-friendly firms, AFA members should again take GLAAD's advice: the media watch dog has a rundown of all the gay pride month televisuals.
Ten companies to support, as per the AFA [AfterElton]
It's Not TV. It's H-O-M-O. [Good As You]

Homophobia knows no color-lines. Nor does it restrict itself to one language. That's why those 'mo-loving media watchdogs over at GLAAD have unveiled two new ad campaigns targeting black people and Spanish speakers. Of the former, GLAAD media strategist Katina Parker remarks:
GLAAD launched this ad campaign to bring increased media visibility to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals who are struggling to be accepted by their families. We hope the campaign will spur the types of conversations and dialogue that change hearts and minds.Another GLAAD strategist uses the same language while describing the Spanish-language campaign:
GLAAD hopes this campaign will spark conversations about love and acceptance to help end homophobia and discrimination in the Latino community.Next on GLAAD's homo hit list: Jews, Appalachians, little people, skaters, a lovely cracker specific campaign and those pesky homophobic, brain-eating zombies!

Isaiah Washington's making a special reconciliatory trip to Gayville. The Grey's Anatomy star came under fire for his faggot flinging - a liberal linguistic lob that led to TR Knight's coming out - and now he's appearing in two GLAAD-sponsored public service announcements.
Our black sister Lauren Williams over at Stereohyped tipped us off to this Us Weekly "exclusive", which reads:
Says an insider, “Isaiah is committed to making amends.”Well, we're just tickled a pretty shade of pink. Not only because we endorse rehabilitated, apologetic Washington's publicist-endorsed efforts - which we do, begrudgingly), but also in eager anticipation for the announcement itself. What the hell can he say? Something like, "It's not nice to call someone a faggot backstage" and then, "It's not nice to call someone a faggot at the Golden Globes"? Hopefully they've got good screen writer's. Also, we're so pleased to know that Washington and GLAAD's friendship lives on. Mazel to the t-o-v!The actor's publicist, Howard Bragman, confirmed the ad on Wednesday. "We're gonna have — I want to say at least two versions of it at this point," Bragman said. "We may broaden our message a little."

• Well, not really, but we bet the incarcerated producer behind Girls Gone Wild he'd love to profit off of Prison Guys Gone Wild.
• Details flippantly deliver the "truth": their rag's a total fag. Guess they really did deserve that GLAAD award.
• Whoopi headed to The View? That makes sense: she's kind of like a black Rosie O'Donnell. Only "not" gay.
• Boise State University and conservative Idaho Family Alliance's Bryan Fischer's "Transgender Bathroom Wars" continue. Honestly, we didn't know they had begun...
• We dont' understand a word of French singer Zazie's 1992 jam, "Sucre Sale", but we dig the homo-flavored, naked model filled video.
• Scandal-ridden congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham denounced his anti-gay ways after buying a yacht from a bunch of butt pirates, according to Seth Hettena, author of Feasting on the Spoils. He told "Buoy Toys'" former owners,
I now vote pro-gay, and it's because of you [guys]... I'm sure I've met lots of gay people, but I've never met two guys that, you know, were outwardly gay and ... that I would consider drinking buddies and friends and boating buddies and people I want to spend time with ... that also said, 'Oh, by the way, I just happened to be gay.The purchase even Cunningham to apologize to openly gay congressman Barney Frank for his homophobic potty mouth, according to Radar. The article also points out the yacht led to a bribery investigation that ended his career. We wonder if he's still keen on the queens.

The faggot furor over Out's controversial cover continues. Genre editor Chris Ciompi laid the smack down against the monthly fag-rag and competing editor Aaron Hicklin, telling married gossip mongers Rush and Malloy:
Your right to privacy is a constitutional right. Maybe Jodie and Anderson would prefer to be known for their work, not their sexuality. The climate of the United States today still would not allow that to occur. With Anderson, many people would perceive his credibility to be undermined.Sounds like someone's a bit jealous, if you ask us. Sure, both Genre and Out have their draws, but we have to say Out's a bit more... Oh, we won't say it. We're sure you thinking men already know where we're going with that one.I think [Out editor] Aaron Hicklin wants to use [Cooper and Foster] to sell magazines. It's politically reprehensible, when he has a list of 50 gay people, to choose two people who are not out.
Meanwhile, those curmudgeons over at GLAAD piped in, insisting they do not condone outing people, but Neil Giuliano made sure to add that Cooper and Foster's names have not been smeared, because that would imply that being gay's "a bad thing". And we all know GLAAD loves to support the gays.
For his part, Hicklin defends his placement of Cooper on the cover, telling R&M:
...If you live in New York City, and if you're gay, it's not too long before you spot Anderson Cooper at certain bars or concerts.Hicklin also said that the magazine's legal team advised against putting Clay Aiken on the cover - not because Aiken would sue, but because he looks too much like Jodie Foster. Can't have two lesbians on the cover, now can we?In the case of Anderson, we felt that was a bogus argument because he's talked about his life numerous times, he's been the cover subject on lifestyle magazines and men's magazines like Maxim. He's allowed his personal life to be scrutinized with one exception - his sexuality, his relationships.
Imagine the shit storm that would start.
• It's a miracle! We have tomorrow off. Yes, we know, it's going to be hard for you to go three whole days without our sparkling text. • Billy Packer's response to the "fag out" comment? No, he didn't in the gay sense. Yes, he'll continue saying it. No, he won't apologize. Yes, he's a douche bag. Okay, we added that last bit, but it's still true.
• George Michael's in Texas visiting boyfriend Kenny Goss' hometown. And, we're sure, get arrested for either smoking pot, driving recklessly or cottaging. Or, possibly, all three.
• Some nutter walked around the Milwaukee Art Museum for a few hours, removed his shirt, thus revealing numerous tattoos (including one of Koko the gorilla), took the Ottavio Vannini's "The Triumph of David" off the wall and started to kick it. Why did he get so violent with a $300,000 art classic? Because it "disturbed" him. And, as we mentioned, he's a total crazy man.
• More Soulforce arrests! This time three activists got nabbed at Bob Jones University.
• VHS is officially dead. (PS: Did you know VHS was still alive?)
• Whitney Houston won custody of her daughter. As if you're surprised.
• GLAAD released a statement on The Dog House/A Brief Smile scandal. Not surprisingly, they made no mention of our story. They may have forgotten us, but we'll never forget them.
• Speaking of forgetting - did you forget to come to the Queerty-sponsored (and Genre, too), Jimmy Im spun, eastern bloc-housed, Svedka-soaked Good Times last night? Well, see what you missed, after the jump...

• Because we learned how to split our matzah without making an unsightly mess!
• Because Details proves out point: it shouldn't have been honored by GLAAD.
• Because, like Christ, Faggoty-Ass Faggot has risen from the dead. But they're not concerned with your spiritual salvation. No, no, FAF has bigger fish to fry: your Manhunt grammar. You should be ashamed...
• Because people fell for the Tron ban. Seriously, the movie came out in 1982 - why would they ban it now?
• Because Italian reality show contestants masturbate on national television!
• Because John Waters doesn't like jury duty.

GLAAD will host its 18th annual media awards tonight in New York City. Though the event should be a celebration of queer accomplishments in the media, it may lead to a celluloid schism.
As we reported last week, gay television network here! guffawed at GLAAD's refusal to allow gay media submissions. As the complaint snowballed and the non-profit drew more fire, GLAAD representatives issued a statement in which they insist gay media once had a seat at the submissions table, but that they squandered the opportunity...

Larry Kramer sure knows how to get a rise out of people. Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (the organization otherwise known as PFLAG) have issued a response to Kramer's Los Angeles Times op-ed in which the legendary gay activist blasted so-called straight hate.
Kramer's offending piece opens, "Dear Straight People, Why do you hate gay people so much?" The 200,000-strong PFLAG insists that's just not so.
