Cyndi Lauper Sez, "Fuck You, Conservacunts!"
Blasts Right in Unpublished HX Interview Excerpt

cyndiclucks.jpg
Gay activists have lauded Cyndi Lauper's recent announcement that she's touring on behalf of gay non-profit, Human Rights Campaign. Some gaycist politcos, however, aren't feeling so celebratory.

To celebration the "True Colors Tour", Lauper headed over to NBC's Today Show - an appearance of which conservative Brent Bazell's Media Research Center wrote:

Co-host Meredith Vieira played the publicist alongside her, asking her to explain how a dollar from every ticket goes to "something very important," that being the Human Rights Campaign. Not "something very liberal" or "something very pro-Hillary."
This reaction comes as no surprise, especially considering Lauper has taken a hard stand against America's conservatives. And, equally unsurprising, Lauper doesn't give a shit.

Homo-Journo Joey Hood broached the topic in a recent HX interview. Since the interview won't be appearing until June, Lauper's truly colorful replies will be long-dated and they've been axed by EIC Brandon Voss. Thus, Hood - with BV's ever-loving approval - thought he send the excised text our way. Check out what the iconic pop star has to say, after the jump.

HX: What about a possible conservative backlash a la the Dixie Chicks? Brent Bozell and a few other Republican commentators have made some pretty hateful remarks about your Today show appearence.

Cyndi Lauper: Oh really? Who gives a shit? They can take their conservatism because let me tell you something, if you live in America and you believe in equality for all which is one of the basic foundations that this country and Constitution was built on, then you can't turn around and say the home of the free except for you guys over there. You never know, Mr. Conservative when they're going to turn around and say except for you guys over there. Because you know what? What's good for the goose is good for the gander. You like your freedom of speech? You like your freedom of lifestyle? You come to this country to have equal opportunity, well then, brother and sister, it got to be equal. If you're going to talk the talk, baby, you've got to walk the walk. Don't give me crap. I've been to Catholic school. I know the drill. I ain't scared of nobody. The conservative backlash? Ooh, that really hurts my feelings. I'm sorry. I'm tired. It's been a long day.

HX: No. That's okay.

(assistant asks): Do you know what conservative Web site this was on?

HX: Brent Bozell's site.

Cyndi Lauper: Oh, who cares? Well, God bless him because that's why we have freedom of speech in this country. He's exercising his freedom of speech as an American exactly like I am. Ain't it swell? I am sorry. When I first came out, I was singing 'She Bop' and they had signs that said "Jesus Loves You." I wanted to carry my own sign that said, "I know."

She's worked with PFLAG, and Matthew Shepard Foundation, and she was at the very first AIDS Benefit in LA,
and she was the first to donate all the profits from a song to AIDS research.
Cyndi's Version of "When You Were Mine" was about her still loving a guy who was going with another guy

Maybe 20 years ago they hurt me but really - it's like Cyndi said in her recent promo visits - women, blacks and now gays have all been oppressed at some point. But slowly, ignorance gets lifted. Think about it... Hector makes a smart point that too many people use the Bible as an outdated excuse to hide their ignorance. Come off it people, you'd probably make decent gay people. After all, you took the time to visit this very 'gay friendly' site and post your comments. Wouldn't that be a sin as well?...

Please tell me where a choice was not made.

Scenario II. A friend has a gay male family member. The guy was engaged to a girl. The relationship ended and he DECIDED to go gay.

One is not born gay. Instead, they allow their minds to act on complete indulgence and they decide to be gay. No one is born gay despite what any gay scientist claims. Everything humans do and engage in is a result of Choices they make. End of story.

My 83-year-old father fought in some of the most horrific battles of World War II, was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. He shakes his head in sadness at the life his grandson has had to live. He says he fought alongside homosexuals in those battles, that they did their part and bothered no one. One of his best friends in the service was gay, and he never knew it until the end, and when he did find out, it mattered not at all. That wasn't the measure of the man.

She seem like a very caring person who I believe is very under-rated. I've heard that she is also very humble!

I agree with you. I grew up listening to her and i think she has been underrated these days cause being Britney Spears is more "artistic" than being different and having talent like Cyndi.

The Gay Community has given Cyndi a very small token of appreciation. She is a real crusader and like a true hero Cyndi has been supporting our community for years! It is nice to see that some of us are appreciating her dedication and willingness to support us for so many years!

Besides being a good singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper is also a great humanitarian, And she has never sounded better than she does now. I know it's a cliche that Cyndi can sing the phone book and make it enjoyable. Well, that's true, She's got some good material to work with. I really enjoy her album "At Last".

Ozzy says:

Cindy is phenomenal! Her stage presence and attitude are just as formidable as her talent. Too bad her fame didn't last because I think she is an awfully gifted artist who makes great music to go along with that gift. I think her voice is amazing. And her creativity always shines through her work. It's a shame we let her go. She still has a small, yet significantly devoted following of fans who have her back no matter what, and hey, I'm with them.

I want to express my Thank You’s to Cyndi and her effeorts for the Civil Rights Org.

I am a very sincere, loning and caring transgender human being and I am in TRANSFORMATION here meaning I am changeing here from how I have been to how I should be. I am one of many who live in Iowa who are transgender, LGBT here and I am strong in Who I am and even having to face so much here in the work place.
I have been TOUCHED by your Songs and have seen you on TV here and want to know if you maybe coming to Iowa. They have a Arena that is called Well’s Fargo Arena, located in Des Moines, Iowa and it would be wonderful if you might play there here?

I have been trnagendered all my life almost and where I am changing here here and have been on hormones for almost 1 1/2 years here now and will be having SRS here done here this next year 2008. I am very comfortable of myself, its just the World isn’t of WHO WE ARE!!!

I am so Greatful!! Cyndi, to “HOW YOU ARE’ and for your songs you have written.
I am glad that you have taken on this job here in SUPPORT FOR LGBT here, just as Elton John did for the people with AID’S some years back.

Possible conservative backlash a la the Dixie Chicks? Cyndi Lauper doesn't give a shit about that! She has her heart in the right place. Plus, we all know that having the Gay Community on your side is always a plus. Too bad Madonna never did anything to thank us for where she is.

Cyndi is amazing and I love that in her very colorful language she made a very important point. In essense: If you condone discrimination tomorrow it may be you who's discriminated against.
As for HRC, they sure have had their trouble and it's bound to happen in any organization that size. Keep the criticism coming because hopefully that'll help fix things but do recognize that they've done and continue to do some amazing work for our community.

Cyndi Lauper is my new hero. She made an unprecedented debut, having more hit singles on She's So Unusual than any female singer before her, and received the Best New Artist Grammy in 1984. A singer, songwriter, actress, producer, and director, Cyndi Lauper has continued to shine in the entertainment industry for 20 years. Good to hear that she is still doing so well.

In her first public statement about her song 'Boy Blue,' Ms. Lauper said: '' 'Boy Blue' was written for a friend who passed away from AIDS. Before he died, he heard the song and asked that people know what it was about and that the proceeds go to benefit AIDS research.'' Ms. Lauper's royalities as writer and performer of the single will go to AIDS research and patient care in the New York area. She has been a HUGE supporter of our Community from years!

NO I don't like her or her music. I especially don't like how Homo Sexuals have to hold up their banners and signs exclaiming how different they are yet wonder why we get aggravated. I don't give a crap who you want to have sex with. You atract SO much attention to yourselves and then wonder why people think you are goofy. Screw whoever you want. Just don't shove it in my face. Pretty simple
