While Lynne Cheney's applying some burn cream, New York-based gender-bending electro-pop outfit DaLipstyxx are applying some neosporin to heal the wounds of being split in two. The quartet's become a duo as AshLee and ElleT split off to form a new band, The Kiki Twins.
When we first heard the news, we expected at least a bit of drama in the band's dissolution, so we contacted ElleT for what we hoped would be a scandalous scoop. Here's the reply, printed in full:
AshLee and ElleT wanted to create a new sound. A sound for the future! We started experimenting in the studio and it just worked. Our decision to leave was not meant to be a malicious act. We just wanted to move forward. No bitchy dramatics, just shameless self-promotion. ElleT's a pro.Check out website and their MySpace page to hear their breakout single "Step Touch."
THE KIKI TWINS debut performance will take place December 29th in NYC at Don Hill's, 511 Greenwich Street at Spring. Showtime at 1am.
We gave the single a listen and we're intrigued. Expect to see us lurking in a corner at the show. Hopefully we won't get pissed on, barfed on or shot - all of which are possible at Don Hill's, particularly because the performance is part of Jonny McGovern and Formika's Desperate Living party. That said, also expect to leave with at least three fresh cum stains.

For all you DaLipstyxx lovers, never fear: founding member Milan and the super-sexy Mimi Valdez will continue performing under the same name. Like all good New York scenesters, they'll survive. Otherwise they would have been trampled beneath the heels of some meth-mad drag queen a long, long time ago. To prove that they're still kicking, here's the link to their website.
