Ellen Chops Up TR Knight
The Video!

We're sure you guys have heard that Grey's Anatomy's TR Knight's confirmed that co-star Isaiah Washington called him a faggot. Well, here's the video of Knights appearance on Ellen.

What's most interesting is that Knight says that backstage scenario marked the first time he's ever been called a "faggot" to his face and that it shifted his perspective. He also gets a little choked up while thanking Ellen for her own landmark outing. We've never really cared about Knight before, but we're starting to see the error of our ways. He's just precious.

(Thanks to Alan for the video. You're a doll.)

I know, he's truly a doll! Those eyes of his are so irresistible.

The interview was awesome too.

A Time mag blogger (check out the front page of their website today) wonders if "series creator Shonda Rhimes, who talks so much about the importance of diversity, has anything to say about [the controversy.]" Can I suggest you post ways to contact Ms. Rhimes to let her know how disgusted we are with Isaiah Washinton's behavior. He just doesn't get it. If one of the cast members had used the N word the way he used faggot, they'd be gone. He can't even admit to having used the word and being repentant. I say it's time to can his ass.

My partner became addicted to Grey's Anatomy the night it premiered and has been hooked the whole time. He already had a crush on TR Knight and to find out he was gay was like a dream come true. I'm so thrilled that being out isn't the career killer it once was. In fact, it looks like being anti-gay may be a career killer for Isaiah Washington. I also love that Knight's character is straight. You always get straight actors playing gay to great applause, so it's fantastic to see the reverse for a change.

while he is adorable and she is a great woman, the interview itself was pretty awkward and brief.

The funny thing about this is, if Mr. Washington were white, would he be getting the cold shoulder from anyone? I certainly hope he's canned and becomes the pariah that he clearly is. But Jason Lewis talked trash about playing gay and nary a titter about dumping his platic ass from Brothers and Sisters. Washington is a dick and deserving of our idicule, but we need to hold all races to the same standard in cases like this.

I think I would fumble for the words as he did were I to meet Ellen and discuss her coming out 10 years ago. She truly paved the way for so many others. And, in many ways 10 years from now we may be saying the same thing for TR Knight.

Personally, I'm very out at work and with friends. But, my boyfriend is not, whatsoever. It's a difficult thing, and we all do it in our own ways. Being a celebrity on a hot show makes it all the more difficult.

As for Mr. Washington, he will get what he deserves. May take longer than had McDreamy called him the N word, but it will happen. He already looks the ass for keeping it in the news. More will come...

Gee, it too only 6 points to arrive at the Race Card. Pardon moi. I must have been in a coma longer than I thought. I don't recall any instances of any white homophobes being given a pass because of their race. On the other hand, I can catalog the number of black entertainers who have gotten away with it, from a too stoned Richard Pryor at the Hollywood Bowl in 1978—a GAY benefit, for Christ's sake, against the Briggs Initiative which would have barred gay teachers in California—where he told the audience to kiss his rich, black ass and stormed off, followed by his friend, The Formerly Divine Miss M, who tried to defuse the situation by asking if anyone wanted to kiss her rich white ass.....to Eddie Murphy's "faggots aren't allowed to look at my ass while I'm onstage. That's why I keep moving when I'm up here. You don't know where the faggot section is, so I keep moving." and " I have nightmares about gay people. I have this nightmare that I go to Hollywood, and find out Mr. T is a faggot. Really. And he'd be walking up to people going: 'Hey boy, hey boy! Ya look mighty cute in them jeans. Now come on over here... and fuck me up the ass!'" lines from his best-selling "comedy" routines to his repeated use of the same word in "Trading Places" [Shirley MacLaine refused to use a gay slur in "The Turning Point."] to the Wayan Brothers first glorification of their homophobia on "In Living Color" to Denzel Washington advising Will Smith, "Don't be kissin' no man" onscreen in "Six Degrees of Separation" which Smith followed, and followed with interviews in which he didn't want his son's friends saying his father was a "faggot" to countless black sports starts, [c]rap, hip hop, and reggae performers, ad nauseum. There is far more reason to believe that his race was the reason this Washington was not fired from the show back in October for starting an on-set fight period. That he threw "faggot" into the mix makes it all the more puzzling why he's still getting paid AND why the show's producer upheld his lie that he didn't say it against the fellow cast member victim!!!

This was such a fabulous interview. You could just tell how hard it was for him to talk about it, yet it was too important to remain silent. Both he and Ellen are role models. I support TR all the way and agree that Isaiah Washington should get what's coming to him - a pink slip.

spiffy says:

The reason the interview might have seemed awkward, was because of all the times I've watched the Ellen Show, she never ever wanted to bring up the topic of her being a lesbian -- even though it was an established fact. So for TR Knight to keep mentioning the fact that she came out ten years ago, probably made her very uncomfortable. She seems to be keen on making the show as G-rated as possible.
