If Michael Alig Weren't In Prison, Would Anyone Care?
Probably Not, Which Is Definitely Good News For Him

It seems we're not the only ones with a taste for scandal. The kids over at New York Magazine are pulling a Radar and have a feature on Michael Alig.

While Alig's feud with James St. James, who wrote Disco Bloodbath the book based on Alig's murder of Angel Melendez, gets some ink, we were particularly intrigued by this bit. Jonathan van Meter writes:

Alig is desperate to be loved...And this is why he is reluctant to tell me about what is perhaps the worst punishment for his crime: a pinched nerve in his back that has gone untreated by prison doctors for the past seven years and caused numbness from his groin area all the way down to his right foot. One of the results of the loss of feeling is that he has lost muscle reflexes in his bladder and sphincter. He is incontinent. ...[T]he thing he’s really worried about is, who will love an incontinent man in his forties? “When I ever get out of here,” he says, “I will never find a boyfriend.”

If we were Alig, we'd be more worried that people would fear getting murdered, hacked into pieces and thrown into the Hudson River. When you have those things hanging over your head, a little pooh probably won't be that big of a deal.
