Remember the rumors that Tim Gunn won't be appearing on season four of Bravo's Project Runway. Well, it seems they're true. Never fear, though, because Bravo's offered him his own show. Pretty fucking exciting, right?
That's right, Mr. G's signed a production deal for the inventively entitled Tim Gunn's Guide To Style. According to the main man himself, the series will be "one-part education, two-parts fun".
We're having fun already.
Harnessing his skills as fashion guru and all around great guy, Gunn will take sad sacks and turn them into fabulous fashionistas. Or something... The release reads: .
...Each episode will chronicle one person's fashion dilemmas and introduce the answer to all their troubles - Tim Gunn himself, with his inimitable style, propensity for coaching and encyclopedic expertise in fashion. As a result of Gunn's tutelage, several deserving folks will get the makeover of a lifetime from the man Entertainment Weekly called "a major arbiter of style." The announcement was made today by Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President, Programming & Production, Bravo. "Bravo is extremely lucky to have Tim Gunn as a part of our family... We want our viewers to see his own opinions, his personal ideas on style, fashion and more. And more? What does that mean, exactly? Like, food? Relationship? Politics? We want more details. Unfortunately the press release doesn't really provide them. It does, however, repeat Berwick's statements, thus proving their commitment to the show.
Speaking of Bravo's commitment, they're not committed to Queer Eye for The Straight Guy. Our homeboys over at AfterElton report:
Ten Queer Eye episodes filmed in early 2006 have yet to air. After about a year in the can, these episodes (episode 91 through 100) will be be put to use as an abridged fifth season later this summer. Meanwhile, Jai, Carson, Kai, Ted, and Thom have long since moved on to other projects. This comes as no surprise, of course, there's long been rumors that the kids got canned. We just can't believe it took them this long. If you guys see Carson and the boys, give them a pat on the back. After that, turn away and pretend like you don't know them. It's better that way.
I'm going to miss the Queer Eye guys!
It's pretty rare that you strike gold with a group with as much chemistry as they had, so it's going to be weird seeing them all on their own.
NOOOOOO! Say it isn't so! Project Runway with no Tim? It will never be the same. But I'll still watch it.....
Tim will be back on the Runway. It's happening. All else is hype.
If they make Tim Gunn's show just another makeover program, he'll disappear faster than you can say "make it work".
As much as people like to make fun of the Queer Eye boys, they were great in the beginning. The producers ruined it by trying to make the show more about the women in these straight men's lives, not about the men themselves.
Queer Eye guys out - Tim Gunn in. Either Bravo feels there is only room for one fashion makeover by gay men show or Carson and the gang got greedy.
Timothy Gunn is the only reason why I watch PR. He is so cute, sexy and honest. I just love him to death.
