Scared Sissie Singer Will Tempt Citizens Into Queerness (Ha!)
The idea that someone would be tempted into homosexuality after watching Elton John perform goes beyond the realm of the absurd. It's ludicrous. John's a miracle of musician, but girl ain't looking so cute these days. Still, that's what Philip Isaac, Archdeacon of Trinidad and Tobago, fears will happen if John's permitted to perform at the Plymouth Jazz Festival.
As we reported yesterday, Isaac and like-minded citizens are protesting the sissie super star's appearance at the event. Issac insists:
The artiste is one of God's children and while his lifestyle is questionable he needs to be ministered unto. His visit to the island can open the country to be tempted towards pursuing his lifestyle.As part of his efforts, Isaac's rehashing an archaic law which forbids out gays from entering Tobago. Legal types, however, seem dubious. Lawyer Anand Ramlogan can't find a record of the law ever being enforced and insists there's no legislative ban on homosexuality.
The weak legal foundation undoubtedly pleases Plymouth organizer, Anthony Maharaj. Maharaj remarks of the controversy:
Elton John is coming as what he is, one of the world greatest performers. His band has performed in every country around the world. In Christian countries like Rome [sic] there has never been an objection. He is not coming here to preach about what lifestyle people should have. This country should be honoured to have Sir Elton John perform in Tobago.Fuck, any country should be honored to have John perform there. We'd be honored just to be on the same continent as Mr. J.

When leaving Tobago there is a departure tax of TT$ 100.00 or US$17.00. This only applies if you have stayed in Tobago more than 24 hours.
Perhaps Elton can hop on the computer and forge a Honored Heterosexual Membership Card or perhaps just a Provisional Heterosexual Membership will do.
