Queen Latifah is the biggest NO TALENT that is a complete puppet in Hollywood. Following quickly in her tracks is Beyonce. Why hand us milquetoast when characters call for passion? Just because their skin-tone is appropriate? What about talent over "celebrity"? Jennifer Hudson was a step in the right direction, there ARE bold women who can deliver. Give us Mo'nique, give us anyone who isn't a tool.

This isn't a remake of the original movie... it's a film version of the Broadway musical based on the movie. The story is slightly different, some plot points have changed, some characters from the original film are gone altogether. Remake? No... reimagining, yes. So yes, maybe we do need it. Maybe we don't. I leave it up to the audience to decide.

But do we need John T as Edna? No, we don't. In the original we had the outrageous Divine and then on Broadway it was Harvey F. Now we have a "straight" man putting on a dress for cheap laughs. My sister Maggie would've made a MUCH better (and natually bigger) choice. Loved the original movie, loved the musical, won't see this one.

Well... I'll cave on the Travolta issue. Not too excited about that (except for a mild sense of schadenfreude) but... I'll still see it. Hell, if for no other reason I'll see it so that I can yack about it afterwards. HERE!
