Gilead Sciences and Bristol-Myers Squibb have joined forces to develop Atripla, a combination of the three most common AIDS medications in one once-a-day pill, which was just approved by the FDA last week. This is the first time we have ever heard of two giant pharmaceutical companies collaborating for the good of the people, and we hope the trend continues. Perhaps if the pharmaceutical companies share ideas about medicine and vaccine researchers share their ideas too, there will be less reinventing the wheel and more real progress.
