Finally—vindication at last! So Hillary finally saw it was time to admit that the passage of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" legislation during her husband's term as President was a bad idea:
"Some of the damage that has been done, we didn't know about. We didn't understand," Clinton said. "But now we do, and we have no excuses left."
Right on, Hillar...w-wait a sec...what's this? That quote is about global warming?! In a story titled "Clinton Backs Gays in Military"? Well, surely she says something pretty much amounting to an apology for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" elsewhere, right? Ah! Here it is:
"I think the question should be not whether you are straight, but whether you shoot straight."
Er...uh...sigh...
Clinton Backs Gays in Military [USA Today]
who the hell in their right mind would want to serve in the military? don't ask, don't tell, don't talk to me about it, leave me alone, fight your own battles, don't ask me to join you in protecting your campaign contributors while they bilk third world countries out of all their assets. the only quote i want to hear from hillary is why she backed sending anyone, gay or straight, into iraq, when everyone on the street, right down to fifth graders knew the evidence for going to war was fabricated. "we were lied to..." uh, yeah...we knew that then, why the hell did you fall for it?
"I think the question should be not whether you are straight, but whether you shoot straight."

Dan,
Could be people want to serve in the military because they want to serve their country, even if some of its policies are wrong. As for Clinton, her argument is that based on what she was told by the White House the war in Iraq seemed prudent. And let's be honest: it wasn't like Sadaam Hussein was Nelson Mandela.
Now I never supported the war myself but this whole thing about demanding Clinton to say she made a mistake is sort of silly. She has explained her decision, said where the Bush team has gone wrong in the war, and talks about what she would do if in charge. What else do we need.
Hillary sucks donkey dick and Bill holds it for her. Screw them both.

i understand that people want to serve in the military -- that doesn't make them not crazy. as far as hilary goes, the white house case for going to war was punched full of holes and revealed to be a lie months before the vote on iraq. she voted for it anyway. why? why is that excusable? and yes, i understand that saddam hussein was not nelson mandela, but by that reasoning, and for the same reasons, iran has the right to invade the u.s. we also have an insane, murderous zealot in charge. if you are okay with any country at this point invading the u.s., then your argument is consistent. if not, its hypocrtical. just like hillary.
