Last week's blogger-led boycott of LIFEbeat's reggae concert to benefit HIV/AIDS yieled some mixed results. While the AIDS charity agreed to yank infamous homophobes Bennie Man and TOK – at the center of the boycott's premise – and cancel tomorrow's concert at Webster Hall, their reason for doing so isn't sitting well with boycott spearheader Keith Boykin and others. LIFEbeat – which Queerty partnered with in December for the Bid 2 Beat AIDS auction – claims its decision to cancel the concert stemmed from threats of violence, rather than, say, its direct support of homophobic singers whose lyrics routinely advocate gay bashing.
