We haven't left our house in weeks, so we haven't yet had a chance to peruse the new issue of BUTT Magazine featuring a chat with Michael Lucas. Thankfully, Lucas Entertainment's publicity-queen Heather Reznor sent us this link to Lucas' blog, where you can find his interview with our friend and BUTT editor, Gert Jonkers.
While the boys chat about Lucas' boyfriend and Brooklyn-based relatives, we were struck by two particular things. The first comes in the form of Lucas' admission that he's trying to toss his accent:
GJ: Are you trying to lose your accent?Boo! Hearing him call you guys our "retarded readers" simply won't be the same without what we always thought to be his most endearing quality. Although, thanks for respecting our country so much, but we suspect he doesn't love it as much as Israel. CONTINUED »ML: Sure, I would love to lose it. I'm sure I will one day. It'll take some time an I'll have to take more classes. If you live in a country, you want to speak the language. You don't want to be asked all the time, like, "Where are you from?" I also think it's a sign of respect for the country to speak the language properly.

To celebrate the release of Shortbus, Time Out New York lent John Cameron Mitchell the editorial helms for their Sex Issue, which hits stands today. (Well, at least in New York, that is.)
We got a super groovy press release about it and everything, which we've included after the jump. Here's a sample of what to expect in said issue:
Mitchell kicks things off with an introduction in which he pontificates on a number of topics, including the concept of Shortbus, the use of real sex as a means for characters to express themselves, casting the film, and “real” sex in film and how it relates to the sexual activity of today’s New Yorkers.
That activity, as reported in the TONY Sex issue, includes prostitution, orgies, live performance and more. The issue also features sex columnist Jamie Bufalino’s annual sex poll, true confessions from sexed-up New Yorkers, a dominatrix tag sale and a profile of a sex therapist.
A profile on a sex therapist? Oh, that is sexy. Kidding aside, isn't the "guest editor" bit the best cross-promotional gimmick in publishing history?

John Cameron Mitchell's more-art-than-perv movie, Shortbus came out yesterday here in NYC and will be released over in Cali tomorrow. For those of you who don't live in either place, well, it'll be a pretty limited release, but we trust you can find a theater that'll be showing it. Watch the trailer to make an informed decision. (Although, we suspect you're all rational enough to know that you must see this movie.)

A friend just sent us this link from Out Magazine. If you take a few seconds and follow it, you'll see just how much devotion John Cameron Mitchell (pictured, doing God-knows-what) put into his new movie, Shortbus. Here's a snippet:
For my Hitchcock cameo I decided to do something I had never done: I ate me some pussy. It didn’t get me hard, but it was better than craft service.
Yikes. If only we were as dedicated to our jobs. Guess that's why he gets paid the big bucks.

Being up to the minute homos, you readers probably know that The Covenant, the undoutbedly homoerotic, invariably sizzling movie involving a group of witchie hunks, opens today. While we're looking forward to watching some hot guys with powers fighting for their lives, there are plenty of other queers movies on the horizon worth taking a peek. Mexican director Julian Hernandez's love story, Broken Sky, will break some hearts on September 29. John Cameron Mitchell's eagerly anticipated, Shortbus opens on October 4th. The indie thriller, The House of Adam, which tells the story of a closeted cop hunting for his lover's killer hits theaters October 27th. We'll definitely be first in line.

October 4 is the day we can finally see John Cameron Mitchell's long-awaited hardcore drama Shortbus. It features real sex, but is not porn, according to Mitchell. The trailer claims it is about "sexuality" not "sex." We will judge for ourselves when it comes out, maybe two or three times depending on just how good the "sexuality" is. Watch the trailer above (borderline NSFW).

It’s not everyday that you get to see the amazing talents of Amanda Lepore. The fellas over at Photopia caught the tranny wonder on New Year’s Eve and have a video of her balloon show for your enjoyment. And we mean real balloons, not her breasts, though they too are inflatable. If it’s good enough for Keanu on NYE, it’s good enough for you queens too.
Also, check out John Cameron Mitchell, of Hedwig fame, singing a Christmas classic.
