Madonna Steals Agnetha's Leotard

madonna-abba-leotard.jpg

Even after Madonna rewon our hearts at her concert in July, we still maintain that "Hung Up" is not as good as the song it is sampling, which is a big problem, in our opinion. ABBA's "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)" is pure pop brilliance not to be matched by some post-millenial hack songwriter, but it turns out that ABBA's tune was not the only thing to be "borrowed" by the Queen of Pop. She also stole a white leotard from Agnetha, one of the two ABBA singers, for use on her Confessions Tour.

Disco Delivery asks "who wore it better?" and we ask "is a white and purple leotard something that should ever be worn twice by a celebrity?" See one more photo after the jump.

Gimme a break. Madonna is not stealing her look. Madonna is paying tribute to ABBA.

It's 2006 nothing is original anymore. Everything is updated from the past including music and fashion.

this post is profoundly lame. the whole point of wearing the lyotard is to make reference to ABBA. duh. much of madonna's career is based on retrieving images and sounds from the past and re-inventing them. right? monroe, dietrich and even musical representations of religious ecstacy from the 17th century.

Get over it says:

I agree that Madonna is tributing ABBA but what has always been clear is that Madonna's whole approach is "I'm great; I'm first; it didn't exist before me". It's great marketing but it's incredibly obnoxious, but hence so is she.

Just ask all those old Harlem queens who vogue'd thru the 20's, Jody Watley who might want her torn lace skirts and hoop earrings back and Ms. Janet who just might want her black pant suit a la Rhythm Nation Gotham Chic back if she still gives a damn. "Tribute" is a great spin on "jacking culture and style"

Madonna has been a "borderline" Elvis since the gate of her career. So fans aka worshipers, be honest with yourselves and admit: an icon entertainer yes, the self-procalimed goddess of originality she is not. I'm just glad Marilyn, Debbie, Basquiat and black folk were around long enough to fuel her this far.

Well, HELLO it is Madonna's Birthday today, so Cheers to here for being 48 and able to wear the heck out of that body suit....

She does pay tribute to ABBA on this song and even sells ABBA's CD's at her concert.

Besides, Madonna has better hair, even if she "might" have had the same stylist as Valerie Cherrish!
