Hundreds of Sacramento-area students rallied to support four students suspended for wearing anti-gay shirts. One participant said: "It's only going to get worse against Christians. We're going to get persecuted more and more. But those who stand to the end: God is going to save them." Um, right...

Sony's banking on Spider Man 3. Literally. Some insiders claim the flick cost $300 million to produce. No doubt, however, it'll make it back. And then some.

The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission will honor Nepal's Blue Diamond Society for all their hard activist work. Unfortunately, they will not be honored with actual blue diamonds.

We've never quite understood Kate Moss and Pete Doherty's relationship. Now we do. And they're kind of cute. Still total nutters, but cute...

Maryland's House has passed a bill requiring health insurance companies to extend benefits to same-sex partners and children. The bill now needs to be signed by the governor to become a law. (We totally just had a School House Rock flashback.)

Robbie Williams may have ditched Take That! to embrace his bad boy image, but some are saying the recently rehabbed singer's mulling a musical reunion. Um, is that supposed to be a career booster or a death rattle?

Student Allegedly Beat Gay Schoolmate

umassH.jpg
Police have arrested and arraigned 24-year old University of Massachusetts Amherst student, Tony Brennan for assaulting a gay peer. The unidentified student was strolling near the school's Stonewall House when Brennan alleged attacked him, resulting in a broken eye-socket, a concussion and other assorted scrapes. Of the beat down, Stonewall House director Brett-Genny Beemyn assured the public this is an isolated incident:

This is very serious, although it is important to point out that this was one incident... This is not a trend. This is one of the most LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) friendly campuses in the country. People can walk and hold hands, kiss.
For their part, the school and police treated the episode very seriously. Deputy police chief Patrick Archibald said:
The campus community and the UMass Police take this type of incident seriously, and we called in additional staff to investigate and address this case in a prompt fashion.
In addition the charges against him, Brenna may face the school's disciplinary committee. Which, really, he should. Although, we imagine that his education's the least of his worries.

Returns Lesbian Divorce To Family Court

badassjustice.jpg
Rhode Island lesbian couple Margaret R. Chambers and Cassandra B. Ormiston are still stuck with one another. You may recall that dyke duo married in Massachusetts back in 2004.

Though former Governor and forever asshole Mitt Romney invalidated the marriage of two people from a state without gay marriage laws, a Massachusetts judge ruled that the couple's marriage mattered, as Rhode Island didn't have a law forbidding gay nups.

Sounds fine and dandy, right? Wrong.

The honeymoon ended soon after it started and the women filed for divorce in Rhode Island. Since they got married in Massachusetts, however, family court Judge Jeremiah S. Jeremiah Jr. doubted his power to heed the ladies' request and RI Supreme Court Gets It From Behind

Hate Leaves A Mark

cirgpol.jpg
Tensions came to a head at a Massachusetts gay marriage rally Saturday. Literally. It seems Catholic Citizens President Larry Cirignano got a little hot and bothered with a pro-marriage protester named Sarah Loy. Cirignano grabbed her by the shoulders, saying, "You need to get out. You need to get out of here right now" before pushing her to the ground, which met her head quite painfully. We're sure God wouldn't have it any other way. A little assault's all part of the plan, right?

Defending himself later, Cirignano insists Loy was too close to his lectern. Worcester Telegram and Gazette reports:

Mr. Cirignano explained that he felt Ms. Loy was getting too close to the lectern. She was in the middle of the crowd to the left of the speakers when the incident happened, about 30 feet from the microphone.
Police interviewed Cirignano but made no arrest. We think they should have arrested him for that sweater alone.

For her part, Loy's relatively uninjured and continued protesting. That's right girl, don't let some bully keep you from voicing your opinion! Plus, it looks better on paper than running away to cry.

Janet Jackson denies she popped out a daughter 18 years ago. Sounds like she's following the Michael Jackson school of thought: Deny! Deny! Deny!

• Boston wants to spend $100,000 to attract more gays and lesbian travelers. What a waste of money. We can't think of a better promotional campaign than being the capital of the only state with legalized same-sex marriage.

Henry Rollins claims he isn't gay. Yet in the same interview he raves about the homo-heavy flick Capote. He also loved Flightplan, In Her Shoes, and, like us, is just peeing his pants in anticipation of Brokeback Mountain.

• And speaking of Capote, it's been nominated, along with Brokeback, for Best Feature in this year's IFP's Gotham Awards. Good going, fellas.

• In attempting to ban gay marriage in Texas, Republicans have worded the law so it could potentially ban all types of marriage. Hmm, this sounds familiar. (Fourth item)
