#9, you're right. The Manhunt info is unverified and unverifiable. In the future, if someone thinks they've contacted Sanchez they ought to contact me before they go public. I have non-public information about the guy's identity that could be used to verify a claim.

Many Latinos with African ancestry don't consider themselves "black" and some look down on people with more African features (colorism and racism is alive and well). The majority Africans kidnapped from Africa were taken to Latin America (from Mexico to Brazil).

In Latin America, one drop of white ancestry makes one white. As in the U.S., being white is seen as better than being black. Unlike the U.S., however, African ancestry in much of Latin America is not considered to be a taint.

By labeling Sanchez as "black" instead of "part-black" or "mixed" aren't you continuing the bigoted "One Drop Rule"? You're putting a label on him that he doesn't choose for himself.

You do know that Queen Elizabeth II has African ancestry through her great great grandmother, Queen Charlotte, wife of George II. The same can be said of Dwight Eisenhower, Humphrey Bogart, Jacqueline Onassis and Heather Lochlear.

Moreover, you realize that 30% of white Americans have detectable African ancestry that can be traced to enslaved African-American ancestors? (Of course, the average African-American has 18 to 20% Caucasian and 8 to 11% Native American ancestry. So, "racial purity" is a myth used to subjugate.)

Why not let Sanchez define himself "racially"as he sees fit (even though there is only one race biologically: human). Frankly, I can't imagine many people who regard their African ancestry would want to be associated with a scumbag like Sanchez.

I realize that the whole concept of race is debatable. There is convincing evidence to suggest that all human beings can trace their ancestry back to a few thousand (and maybe fewer) East Africans who survived the ancient eruption of a supervolcano in Indonesia. So you could argue that we're all Africans.

In that light, I'd say "race" is a term of convenience. To me, it's plain to see that there are four broad races: Indian, East Asian, Caucasian and African. There's been a lot of intermixing, but someone who argues that, for example, there's no "racial" difference between today's Japanese and today's sub-Saharan Africans is engaging in sophistry.

Latin America is defined by a combination of politics and geography. Racially, it's quite mixed. There are white Latin Americans, black Latin Americans, and the descendants of natives who can trace their roots back to East Asia.

Is someone who has some Caucasian ancentry but is observably black not black? Not in my opinion. I fully realize that precision is impossible in this area, most likely because the biological basis of race is somewhat shaky. So I fall back on common sense.

In Sanchez's case, we've got a guy who seems to have taken the step of using computer software to lighten the skin tones on his escort pictures. I can't prove it, but the pictures certainly suggest it. You can check my website for the evidence.

He is not someone who denies the existence of race, nor am I. If you want to suggest, or outright say, that it's racism to think that there are races, all I can tell you is that I disagree.

p.s.: In the absence of some intervening catastrophe, in another 50,000 years or there'll likely be few, if any, human "races" as our species merges planet-wide. But that is then, and this is now.
