No doubt the face of media's changed in recent years. Nevermind blogs such as ourselves - news organizations have made an effort to cover more diverse events, happenings and social groups, including the gay variety. One seasoned journalist, the staunchly conservative Joseph Farah, insists the rise of gay-centric news isn't a mistake. It's an agenda. He writes:
I am revealing, for the first time, the way the press was invaded and taken over by radical activists with a perverse and extreme agenda.Farah goes on to explain that homo-journos have infiltrated every major news organization in order to paint a pretty pink picture of America's pretty pink posse. Not only have gays infested these outlets, they're actively shaping the tone and breadth of queer coverage.
...
Here's an example of a group that has virtually dictated the way newspapers and broadcast outlets cover issues involving homosexuality and other forms of sexual deviancy. It's called the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. Not only is the organization successful at working inside the media to ensure favorable coverage of homosexuals and their political agenda, it even persuades the corporate press barons to pay their freight!
Farah cites a 2000 meeting of NLGJA during which members debated how much dissent to include in their reports. The argument revolved around the perceived need to include anti-gay perspectives in gay-themed articles. During this debate, CBS's Jeffrey Koffman mused:
The argument (is): Why do we constantly see in coverage of gay and lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues the homophobes and the fag-haters quoted in stories when, of course, we don't do that with Jews, blacks, et cetera?"Others agreed, saying bigots often got cited simply for their hateful voices, not for some social or political expertise.
He curiously concludes that the gay agenda will lead to the "implosion" of "lamestream" media, a destruction of which Farah infuriatingly remarks, "...It couldn't happen to a more arrogant bunch of fascist mind-control freaks." What's funny about all of this is that Farah has never made any secret of his Christian conservative slant. This group, we feel, has a much bigger claim on "fascist" mind-control. They do have about 2007 years of practice, after all.
For all the gory details, click here to read Farah's article. But, of course, it's not completely unbiased - Farah's simply using his allotted ink to promote his new book, Stop The Presses!. Talk about an agenda.
This former homo-journo, a refugee from the sinking Cunard line supercruiser that is the newspaper industry, would like to point to this Farah guy that the MSM is much more conservative that his ilk would like the public to believe. Why? It's populated by dinosaurs who have refused to adapt swiftly enough to the media environment. I can remember when gay stories were routinely trashed at my old paper because they simply "weren't news" or might have pissed our fascist publisher off.
