We haven't had a chance to listen to Bjork's new album, Volta, but we did just take a spring-appropriate trip down musical memory lane with "It's Oh So Quiet" - Bjork's retitled Betty Hutton cover from 1995's Post. Not only does the song make us all optimistic and shit, but the Spike Jonze directed music video stands the test of time.
The woman is a genious, can't wait to get the new album!
which I obviously am not since I can't even spell genius right...geesh...
The new CD, Volta, is especially good, especially the songs "innocence" "declare independence" and "earth intruders". I saw her last week perform at Radio City and it was fantastic.
She is simply innovation at its best. I just went to last night's show at the Apollo theater, and she must have played her best show thusfar. She performed all the songs mentioned in the above post, but better yet, she turned the end of "Hyperballad" into a rave segue into "Pluto." She had the entire house dancing... including the two overly expressive men in balcony/box seats... which one stripped off his shirt.
Oh, PS: much like any work Bjork has put out, Volta, though its hype and anticipation, is also getting mixed reviews. I personally, love it and think it blends styles of her past albums nicely altogether.
