Eartha Kitt's never been crazier than she is in this video for "Cha Cha Heels" from John Waters' Female Trouble. Backed by legendary electro outfit, Bronski Beat Dead or Alive, Kitt stomps all over the stage, singing, purring and vamping it up as only she knows how. The perfect inspiration for a Monday morn', we think. Hopefully you'll agree.
I have always LOVED this song but never seen this video... the best part is the backup singer on the far right. The clothes, the outfit and that hair... it's like a time capsule.
Darlings this is so flawless! Thanks much, like jim, I've known and loved the song but have never seen the video and it's faboo! I believe the group is Dead or Alive, not Bronski Beat, that's got to be Peter on the far right.
OMG !
OMG !
haha.. sorry about the multiple posts... i got overly excited. i luvs me some eartha and have never seen this clip before... what a find ! queerty's best music clip ever !! thanks.
Okay, give back your gay card.
Song was written and recorded with Bronski Beat. NEVER Dead or Alive. That's just some queen dressed like Pete Burns doing back up. (Can you imagine Burns EVER singing back-up for anyone? Even Eartha??)
And the song is at best 'inspired' by Female Trouble but was not 'from' the film or in any other way related to John Waters.
If you thought this was godd, you need to see the real video, complete with kittens and champagne....Don't mean to sound cranky, but when I saw the words "Eartha" and "Dead" in the same sentence I feared the worst....
I was about to say...
Film predates song by at least a decade.
Yeah... That was Eartha, but the rest wasn't Dead Or Alive. I could be wrong, since I stopped following Bronski Beat after Jimmy Sommerville left -- but that could have been the new lead singer replacing Jimmy.
