Why not start the new year with an old favorite: Frenchie popsters Tahiti 80. Founded way back in 1993 when lead singer Xavier Boyer met bassist Pedro Resende, the duo became a quartet with the addition of guitarist Médéric Gontier and drummer Sylvain Marchand, garnering rave reviews for their seemless blend of melancholic longing and optimistic pop.
Inspired by the eclectic 1960s and guided by the notion that making music should be at once irreverent and introspective (but always fun) the kids made a splash with their most cited single, "Heartbeat".
Sure, we love it, but think their single, "Big Day" is a little more timely, don't you?
