Rufus Wainwright Recording New Album

rufus-studio-berlin.jpeg

Out musician Rufus Wainwright is working on an ambitious-sounding new album in Berlin, and he is producing it himself along with Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant. It's going to feature strings, complex orchestration, and "very cheerful and very sad lyrics."

Sounds promising, and we have no doubt the new album will be full of well-written and affecting songs, as Rufus rarely disappoints in that regard.

They keep playing one of his videos from Brokeback Mountain on Logo. I swear it's the most depressing monotone singing I've ever heard. And now it'll be set to dance music? Oh, great.

I have all of Rufus Wainwright's CDs and have since his first CD in 1998 enjoyed his work. He was just voted in the top 10 songwriters and musicians by a recent music publication. Just in caes 693212234 hasn't seen Brokeback Mountain..it is a very sad movie, which kept pretty much to the short story. After all in the end, Jack Twist is murdered by homophobes and Ennis realizes all too late that his love for Jack is real and deep...indeed, a kind of Gay Romeo story. Hence, to me, Rufus Wainwright's song fits perfect with the movie. Setting that to dance music..well, there I agree..that just doesn't fit. I love Rufus's voice and work..he is an amazing singer and songwriter. I was hoping that he would put out a CD on his recreation of Judy Garland does the Palace, which he did by singing Judy's songs and he collaborated with Lorna Luft on the production..maybe he still will do that too.
