Michael Lucas knows you want to know every detail of his day. That's why the ageless porn mogul posted a very special rundown of his actions on May 8th, 2007. It's a pretty typical day. Lucas has breakfast with his boyfriend, runs his highly successful business and chats with a lovely German mag, EreXXXion. Nothing spectacular.
Until around the five o'clock mark. That's when things got heavy...

Meanwhile, in actual news, our favorite sappho-journo (her suggestion), Kerry Eleveld sent us this link to an article she penned for this week's The New York Blade. In said article, Eleveld dissects the effectiveness (and, in fact, necessity) of gay politics in the run-up to the 2008 election.
Launching her piece, Eleveld notes that noted conservative candidate Sam Brownback has side-stepped the "gay" debate, skirting the issue with political precision. Why? Well, considering their trampling in the last election, Republicans are steering away from the controversial issue. So, what about the Democrats?
According to Eleveld, all the potential candidates have planted themselves firmly in the middle, lauding the importance of civil unions, but refusing to go the extra step to endorse gay marriage. So, what does this mean for the politically-minded homo? Dive into that there jump and read for yourself...

If you live in New York, you may have noticed a new ad campaign. Launched by The Black Gay Network, a coalition of 16 grass-roots organizations, it hopes to quelch homophobia in black communities. Set on basketball courts, in churches, and on the street, this clever and necessary movement seeks to not only depict gays as both "black" and "gay," but begin a healthy dialogue in various communities. Executive director Mark McLaurin says:
The thing that came up over and over again was the homophobia in the African-American community...The sense that [black men] were forever having to demonstrate their blackness because they were gay, or demonstrate their authenticity to the larger community.
Funded by a grant by the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, the $150,000 adverts are already turning heads. Hopefully, it will turn even more and make a difference.
Ads Target Homophobia [The New York Blade]

The New York Blade really outdid themselves with a wonderful piece on gay NYC bloggers. And not just because we are all over it! Included in the article are FOQs (Friends of Queerty): Andy Towle, David, Toby, Sparky, Uffish, and WYSIWYG.
The cartoon of Bradford from the recent Heatherette launch party is the icing on the cake of a fun article. Thanks NY Blade for the kind words.
