What a tricky and multi-layered story is this: A former Christian bookstore owner and a former cop were among five men arrested for arranging sex with minors through a chat room. Despicable, right? How could they, being pillars of our society, take advantage of the young?
The "victims" in these cases were 16 and 17 while the two perpetrators mentioned were in their 50s and 60s. However, we would argue that a boy of that age is most likely fully aware of what he is doing on the Internet and the bedroom. And the age of consent in Pennsylvania is 16 anyway, so we're not sure exactly what crime these guys committed, other than being kind of pervy.
We aren't trying to defend child molestors here; it's generally accepted that men who seek out sex with 16-year-olds are not pedophiles or they would be seeking out 11-year-olds. They're just pervs, and the law allows them to be pervs, so we don't know what all the fuss is about.

What do you mean "it's generally accepted that men who seek out sex with 16-year-olds are not pedophiles?" WHO has accepted that fact? Those guys are pedophiles and more importantly, they are predators! They prey on those who are weaker, more immature (arguably) and those young guys who are notfully aware of the consequences of thier actions. Shame on you for diminishing what these adults have done.
Hey,
Sure, I was fully aware at 16 of sex, and how fun it was!
These kids can easily say 'no' as yes...it was PRE ARRANGED
meetings...they weren't snatchin em off the street...
