Episcopalians Tell U.S. To Piss Off
Pack Up For Nigeria

brokencrosssm-1.jpg
Seven Episcopalian parishes voted this weekend to split off from their US brothers and align with Nigeria and other nations opposed to the religion's endorsement of gay marriages and female leaders. In leaving the church, the parishes should technically give up $25 million in real estate. The leaders, however, insist they've got no plans to move out, a refusal that will undoubtedly lead to extensive legal battles. Of the schism, Virginia Bishop Peter Lee says he's saddened, but has no plans of ceding the lucrative land:

As stewards of this historic trust, we fully intend to assert the church's canonical and legal rights over these properties...
Sounds like we could have a bit of a holy war on our hands.

The split raises all sorts of questions. First of all, where will the 4,000 plus dissenters worship? Are they just going to march up and down the streets, chanting like those people we always see at Bryant Park? Are they going to move to Nigeria? If they move to Nigeria, how will they react to all the black people? How will all the Nigerians react to them? Do we really care that much?

Oh, wait, we know the answer to that one: no.

If they are so "moral" then why are they not willing to give up the land, since it's tainted by all of amoral types. Just proves to me that their morality ends at the door of the all mighty dollar.

If Chrsit were planning to make a return, now would be a good time. Kick those money-grubbing bastards outta his house.

A church that's founded on the lust of Henry Tudor for six wives is hardly a model of Christian fidelity. Splitting from the Roman Church because he couldn't dump the
infertile wife does not make an excuse for present day
Episcopalians to split because they have a gay bishop or woman clergy. I always heard that zero times anything equals zero. They have the words but not the music.
In their eyes there's something lacking. What they need
is a damn good whacking.

it's just a few churches - 7 out of 7200 - splitting off from the episcopal church, which, by and large, is pretty gay friendly with lots of out people serving as clergy and active in parishes. most episcopalians abhor the hateful fundy mindset so prevalent in much of american xtianity and are saying "don't let the chapel door hit you wehre the good lord split you" to those intolerant few on the way out.
