Talk about direct action. Resort employees in the Bahamas' Half Moon Cay are planning on walking out of their jobs to protest a gay and nudist cruises' passages on their pristine waters. It seems the staffers, including a woman named Melissa Rolle, weren't told that gay or nudists would be visiting their establishment and now they want to do something about it. Ms. Rolle says:
We want to know if the entire Bahamas knows about this because we are aware that a gay cruise was stopped from coming to New Providence, but here on the cay we have them coming in so frequently, so we questioned whether this can happen in any other place in The Bahamas.Especially considering it's called Half Moon Cay, not Full Moon Cay.We are willing to strike if we have to because this is disrespectful to the employees. We shouldn’t have to look at two men making out on the beach or nude persons walking around as if it’s normal. It’s just disrespectful and not right.
Rolle also wonders if her employers are more lax with the fags because of new resorts opening at Cotton Cay and Princess Cay: both of which sound more appropriate for the nudists and the gays, respectively.
Rolle's bosses insist that they don't discriminate against anyone, but the company's vice-president will consider their concerns. Hopefully not too much...

That's right, gays and nudists, all the same. Not happy, Rolle? Get another job.
STATEMENT FROM HOLLAND AMERICA LINE
SEATTLE -- April 4, 2007 – Holland America Line welcomes guests with a wide variety of lifestyles and special interests aboard our ships and to Half Moon Cay, the company’s private island in the Bahamas. Prior to any large group or charter, officers, crew and staff are briefed about any special requirements or needs of a specific group.
These groups with special needs vary broadly. Some religious charters, for example, request no alcohol be served; poker players that charter the ship request gaming tables throughout the ship; several jazz charters request only jazz music be played in public spaces; lesbian groups that charter a ship request most public restrooms be for use by women; and quilters request space to exhibit quilts.
In the case of clothing optional cruises, if staff, including those on Half Moon Cay, are uncomfortable working among clothing optional guests, staff are given the option of not working.
Half Moon Cay operates as a private island port of call for guests of Holland America Line ships. The island offers daytime (typically from 8am-5pm) facilities for cruise guests only and is not open to the public.
