It's good to know Ted Haggard isn't the only complete and utter liar in the world. And when we say "good", or course, we mean "bad", especially when considering the details of Baptist Pastor Todd Turner Brock's spectacular fall.
Heading up North Carolina's Tabernacle Baptist Church for 17-years, Brock's been described as a nice, quiet man, but those days are over. The 42-year old has been arrested for a slew of charges stemming from his stemming of a 17-year old boy. The boy went to Brock after his friend came down with cancer. Sensing the boy's weakness, Brock allegedly initiated a sexual relationship that not only involved oral and anal sex, but bondage and a bit of homemade porn, which Brock allegedly planned to sell.
After finding out about the illicit and underage interrelations, the unidentified boy's mother went to the police. The police, for their part, enlisted the FBI and set up a sting operation. Using a 17-year old boy as an informant, the boys in blue caught the man of cloth in a web of telephone conversations and emails, thus leading to his arrest.
Brock has since stepped down from his position and is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond. And, as word spread of Brock's sinful behavior, at least three other boys have come forward claiming Brock abused them. No charges have been filed. In the meantime, Brock's gearing up for a hearing on April 20th. Certainly not the way we'd want to spend 4/20, but, then again, we're not in the habit of molesting young boys.

Oh Gee! Another Gay Holy Man [Petulant Rumblings]
An adult having sex with a minor is predatory, of course. But can you please stop referring to people who pursue sexually mature minors as pedophiles? Their behavior is inappropriate, but pedophilia is a specific attraction to pre-pubescent children. The "official" term for people into teenagers/adolescents is ephebophilia, and while the semantics of that don't really matter, it bugs me when the pedophile tag gets slapped on any gay guy who screws an underage boy. The 42-year-old guy who sleeps with a 17- or 18-year-old girl ("She said she was 18!!") is called a dirty old man.
Again, not trying to be obnoxiously semantical, but "pedophile" has a very specific meaning and I'm not sure it's a good idea to use it as a knee-jerk response to statutory rape. I mean, if you really want to get technical, what's the difference between the 42-year-old who has sex with a kid who just turned 17 and one who has sex with a kid the night before his 18th birthday?
Go Nick! I was just going to post the same thing.
That's what you get for sending your kids to church! Church before 21 years of age should be child considered child abuse.
y'all beat me to it... isn't time we stopped referring to 17-year olds as helpless boys ? technically illegal, depending on the state, perhaps.. but c'mon. maybe i was a more precocious slut than some, but by 17 i had pretty much sucked and fucked my brains out... and that was way back in prehistoric times when nobody knew shit about anything. unless he has some kind of mental disablilty, this 17-year old is no victim.
wow, nothing relieves the stress of finding out your bff has cancer like getting a bj from the preacher man.
praise god.

By the time bondage and home-made porn start getting into the mix, you know the kid was enjoying every moment of it.
That, or he was planning this all along.
In that case, he'd be a (relatively) smart kid.
Nick- totally agree. I go berserk when i read about 24-year-old female teachers "raping" 17-year-old students. Inappropriate, yes. Should be fired, yes. Rape, no.
this was my preacher n u dont even know him so shut up!!
This kid was in no shape for a sex relationship with his pastor. Call it rape or do not call it rape: it was still sexual exploitation of a young person from an adult male who knew exactly what he wanted to do with the kid, well before the kid knew what was going on (if, even now, he has figured it out).
The fact that a 17 year old can say "yes" still doesn't mean he's ready to do it. Guys like Brock know how to get kids, and I mean children, even sexually mature children, to do what they want. They are predators. This 17 year old had a right to grow up on his own timetable, not be emotionally railroaded into sex by an authority figure who didn't care about his wellbeing in the slightest.
I think the biggest disappointment here is that I have heard him preach, and I never would have guessed in a million tries that he could be capable of this. There were so many people that believed in him as a competent leader of Tabernacle Baptist. He has scarred every member of that church by the double life he is leading. Think of the members that kept the church doors open by donating money. Think of the people that now have to live with the fact that Todd was not only human, but a person that was in direct contact with any number of kids that he was in charge of mentoring at the youth camps. Who knows what the little queer did that noone has ever come forth and admitted. I honestly believed that the Baptist belief was one of honesty and trust. This is between God and the Judge and todd. He should be rewarded with whatever punishment he deserves for his actions. Lock him up....I am sure he will find what he is looking for there. Needless to say, I will have a difficult time ever going to church again. I have a bible..and I can read. That suits me just fine. Thanks for adding insult to injury, you freak.
