Circus doesn't even begin to describe the hubbub surrounding Valerie Plame's congressional testimony. Sure, Scooter Libby may have already been found guilty, but the nation watched as the former CIA spy blasted the government for putting her life in danger simply to get back at her anti-war husband, Joseph Wilson.
Though a riveting judicial spectacular- former spies, secretive meetings, shadowy government - the testimony may most well be remembered for the pink-wearing, mannish-looking lady protesting in the back. A member of Code Pink, the tranny in question, Midge Potts, has finally broken her silence about her involvement in the all-women's anti-war group.
Midge Potts once lived as Mitchell Eugene Potts - a Navy man stationed on the USS Yosemite during the first Gulf War. Though proud of serving his country, Mitchell pondered the motivations for the war he fought. During that war, Mitchell inhaled mercury in an accident, received an honorable discharge and went on to marry and father a child. His marriage crumbled within a few years, however, and that's when Mitchell began dressing as Midge: "It's been about four years since I've really been living as a woman. Although I've always felt like this. I felt like a little girl when I was a kid." More importantly, it's also around this time that Midge began fighting against her nation's unjust wars.
As part of her mission, she ran against GOP representative Roy Blunt for his south Missouri congressional seat. She didn't win, but she sure as hell put herself on the map, meeting hundreds of people, making history as the first tranny political candidate and, of course, stealing the show at the Plame hearings.
Don't expect this flower to sink into the wall. This bitch is ready to fight - she's mulling another congressional run and keeps fighting the government at every turn of this increasingly tortuous war. Keep on keepin' on, girl.

Well, more power to Midge for her efforts, but it kind of bugs me that the only reason she got any media attention at all was for the who's-the-tranny speculation. Seriously, no one would have noticed her if she was about a foot shorter with a smaller jawline. Even if she was still dressed head to toe in pink.
The first time I laid eyes on Midge during the hearings, I was smitten. It was pure street theatre brilliance. B Brecht war beaming from above. Midge is a true hero.
Midge is my HEROINE!!!
Something like this further proves the bravery of the transgendered population.
Like Lee Gordon, I was totally smitten with Midge while watching the hearings. When she stood up and adjusted her t shirt in such a subtle manner, the entire focus was on her.

Thanks...
I really hope other people are inspired to "speak truth to power" wherever you are. In America, "all power is derived from the People", so let's live our lives that way!
Peace & Freedom,
Midge
