Did you know there's a conservative Christian public relations firm? We sure didn't. Although it makes perfect sense: we can't have James Dobson using some damn fag to spread his message, now can we? While one of the biggest Bible-pushing PR firms, WDC Media ("PR with a Higher Purpose") may make their money promoting the gospels of J.D. Faust and Jackie Mason (not to mention a little Mel Gibson movie about Jesus), but they're not above getting down and dirty with a little political activism. Their enemy? The National Education Association.
It seems they take offense by the NEA's pledge to combat homophobic bullying. On their website, WDC says:
A former chairman of the National Education Association's Ex-Gay Educators Caucus says the NEA is engaging in a "big misinformation campaign" with the goal of changing public opinion on homosexuality, starting with the youngest generation. That's the most dastardly thing we've heard since we learned about the holocaust! Protecting children from discrimination? God, they must be some kind of monsters! Just listen to the vile things the NEA promotes:The NEA has unveiled a new web page [Caution: This page contains pro-homosexual material] on "gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students," stating that the educators' union is "committed" to fighting harassment, bullying, and discrimination aimed at those students.
There is only one real issue for educators: We are responsible for our students' safety and education. We must ensure that everyone is given the opportunity to achieve and thrive.Isn't this how The Book of Revelations started?
WDC's source, a California teacher named Jeralee Smith, claims the NEA's out to fagify all of America's youth. While the site posts GLSEN statistics on homophobia, WDC points out:
...[T]he NEA's new web page does not provide statistics about the many young people who have had same-sex sexual encounters in the past but have since abandoned such behavior.Wow. They're homosexual masterminds.
FYI, this isn't really WDC's initiative. They just pick up and repeat all of the wacky anti-gay stuff that is published by the Agape Press website. This initiative probably started with either PFOX or perhaps Americans for Truth (a misnomer if I ever heard one). It really doesn't consist of anything more than a press release to fire up the anti-gay readers. If you watch this stuff long enough, you'll see that they actually reprint these things every few years - sometimes word for word.
